Arthur stared at her with a serious look and suddenly said, “Give me a kiss, and I’ll let him in.”

She was planning just to kiss him and step back, but

Pete nodded, “I will.” 

Ava looked at Charlotte again. “You’ve been here for several days. It’s time for you to leave. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry. I will always be your grandmother, and no one can take me from you.” 

Charlotte hugged her tightly, with an unwilling expression on her face. “But I want to stay a little longer.”
