Chapter 139
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 9
HARRIETTE'S POV
"She suddenly attacked me," Sally cried.
I scoffed. "Yeah, right. Since you're a helpless little kitten,"
After we were separated or should I say, she was saved from my hands, we were dragged to the Alpha's office.
Rowan had his back turned to us as he faced his window and his second in command, Mika stood in front of us.
Also, another man that I didn't recognize was in the room.
I could see the smile playing on Mika's lips as soon as I said those words.
"Don't try to act smart. You're a fucking wild animal. 1 didn't do anything to you and you suddenly attacked me,"
I tried absurdly mimicking her. Mika growled softly, cautioning me.
"Try saying 'I didn't do anything to you' again and see what happens," I begged her.
I would love to kick her ass one more time.
"Tell me what happened, Harriette," Mika asked me.
I turned to her. "She beat up my sister. You should see the mark on her body," I stared at Sally.
She suddenly ran out of words and had nothing to say.
"Did you touch her sister?" Mika asked Sally.
Sally only looked away and didn't give her an answer.
"As far as I know, Harriette. Your sister isn't a child, she can defend herself. You just caused a ruckus in the pack while on probation. Did you know this could cost you to leave the pack?" Mika asked.
I shook my head. I didn't know that or maybe I forgot that part. "I didn't mean to cause trouble. I just couldn't sit back and let her walk around freely after doing that to Ella. Ella is an easygoing girl. She would never cause trouble and I think she took advantage of that,"
I was being sincere with my words. Ella was like the saint in our pack. She couldn't hurt an animal not to talk of a human. She was easygoing, soft and so peaceful. I guess that was what Sally saw and decided to bully her.
"I didn't touch her unprovoked. I'm not a lunatic," Sally suddenly defended her stupid actions.
"But you're a bully. At your age and shoe size. Is that how your mama brought you up?" I asked her.
"You fucking bitch,"
"I beg you, Sally, please touch me. Please. Just once," I begged.
"Do they share a room?" The other man in the office asked.
Mika nodded. "Unfortunately, they do, Gideon." His name was Gideon. Gideon was probably a few inches shorter than Rowan. He was good-looking but looked a bit rough on the edges.
"If we don't want a murder, I think it'll be better to separate them," Gideon suggested.
He stared at me and smirked before he looked away.
What was that for?
"Alpha Rowan, what should we do?" Mika asked.
That was when Rowan finally turned to us. His eyes were fixated on Sally and I could see a small smile gracing her lips. It was as though they were having a conversation with their eyes.
I frowned. What the fuck was going on?
Why do I feel a burning anger inside of me at the sight of their unspoken interaction? Why do I suddenly feel like breaking Sally's neck?
Wow! Woah! Easy Harriette.
"Throw her in prison. Since she couldn't deny hurting her roommate, she should learn to do things the peaceful way,"
Mika turned to him and asked the question that was on my mind. "Who are you talking about?"
Rowan pointed to Sally. "Her,"
"No, Alpha. You can't do that to me. I didn't hit her on purpose,"
Guards came into the room and led Sally away.
I smirked.
That's what you get for being a bitch.
"As for her, Gideon, drop her off at the Seekers,"
The what?
I didn't miss the horror look on Mika and Gideon's face.
Was it bad? I was clueless as to what was going on.
"I think that's too dangerous, Rowan. You can lock her up for a few days as well,"
Gideon tried to change Rowan's mind. Instead of responding, Rowan focused on the screen in front of me and began typing.
"Alpha," Mika called out but got no response.
I looked to Mika and Gideon to get a clue as to what was happening but neither of them responded.
"If she wants to fight, let her," Rowan added. "Leave. All three of you," he commanded.
I kept staring at Rowan but he never made eye contact with me.
Mika and Gideon urged me to leave with them. I still didn't have an idea as to what was happening so I followed them obediently.
As soon as we were out of the office, I finally asked,
"What's the Seekers?"
"It's where our most deadly men reside. We keep them there to avoid provocation from pack members. They kill for several stupid reasons," Gideon explained.
"And I'm supposed to stay there, because?"
Gideon shook his head. "I don't know. Alpha Rowan knows best,"
"Shit," I cursed.
"Yeah, shit," Gideon affirmed.
What have I gotten myself into? I was supposed to be one step ahead in my mission, not several steps backward that could lead me to an early grave.
"What's going to happen now?" I asked Gideon.
"Lot of things but just keep your head down. I'm sure you'll be fine,"
He assured me.
I was really really scared. Maybe I should learn to think twice or calm down before making decisions.
"How bad can it get?" I asked another question.
Gideon laughed. "Calm down, tiger,"
"Tiger," I asked him.
"Yes, Tiger. You just beat up a girl without blinking a few minutes ago and now, you're already so scared. Calm down and be brave,"
"I haven't seen where braveness saved anyone from the pit of death before,"
He gave me a side look and stared away.
I walked into my room and I was allowed to pick up my bag. I had just two clothes anyway. I didn't have many things to carry.
"What's going on?" Ella asked me.
"Nothing. I'm just getting punished for a few days," I assured her.
"Exactly! That was why I told you to let it go,"
"I don't regret beating her up anyway. So, it's cool,"
"Come back soon, alright?" She asked me.
"Before you know it, I'll be back,"
We hugged for a minute before I had to let her go and went with Gideon and two other guards.
It didn't take a long time before we arrived at the Seekers building by car. They were really situated on the outskirts of the pack.
What if I get killed? Or worse still, get assaulted? They were men, right?
I swallowed hard as I stood in front of the door. Gideon came by my side.
"If I was in charge, I would prefer for you to be punished in another way, not this but I hope you get to learn whatever lesson Alpha Rowan wants you to learn here.
See you again, Tiger, and try to stay out of trouble,"
I nodded.
The door suddenly opened and I walked into an eerie silence. The house was big, enough to accommodate a hundred people.
The door closed behind me and I saw the people who lived there. They were there but they were silent as well. The craziest thing was they were walking around the house but I couldn't hear their footsteps.
"Howdy,"
A familiar face winked and I almost dropped dead to the floor.
What the fuck?
