Aiden Finnegan's Medical Odyssey novel Chapter 60

Since it wasn't time to get off work, Angelina thought she should stroll around the beach. Now that she was finally leaving the company, she could relax. She wasn't worried about her future. After all, she graduated from a famous university. Finding a job would be easy. Just when she was getting out of the car park, Ray called her.

"What are you up to, Angelina?" Ray smiled.

Angelina heaved a sigh. "Just came out of the company. I resigned."

"Resigned? But it's your family's company. Why did you resign?" Ray asked. "And you just snagged a partnership with Avirax for them."

"Long story," said Angelina.

Noticing Angelina's sour mood, Ray thought he could use this chance to do something. "Do you have anything to do tonight? I'll treat you to dinner."

Not like I'm going home anyway. "Sure. Give me the address."

They agreed on a spot and hung up. Ray reserved a spot at an open-air restaurant near Angelina. Once they took their seats and made their orders, Ray asked her what happened. Angelina told him about how Mason gave the spot of the new department's president to Kevin, and she also told him about her situation at the company since her grandfather died. She was disappointed by the management, so she quit.

Ray nodded. "It's not a bad thing you left. Don't worry about your job. I can get you a position in my family's company. We have a decent company in Keyland."

"Thank you, Ray," Angelina said. If she had connections, she wouldn't have to start over, at least.

Ray suddenly said, "Are you alright, Angelina? With Aiden, I mean. I'm really sorry for what happened."

The light in Angelina's eyes went out. "We're getting a divorce."

The news delighted Ray, but he pretended to be concerned. "Calm down, Angelina. That was probably just a misunderstanding."

"It's not that. That was the last straw that broke the camel's back." She smiled sheepishly. "Sorry you had to see this. I lost my relationship and career in one go."

"It's alright, Angelina. Marrying Aiden is a waste of a woman of your caliber, and your family's company is just stupid for letting you go. They're gonna beg you to go back one day."

"Thanks." Angelina didn't think that was true. She thought Ray was just trying to cheer her up.

"Angelina," blurted Ray.

Angelina looked at him curiously. "What is it?"

"If you and Aiden do get divorced, will I have a chance then? You know I've had a crush on you since college." Ray was going to spend a bit more time wooing her, but this was the perfect chance. If he could provide comfort for her during her darkest moment, she would fall for him, and now was her darkest moment.

"Is that a joke, Ray?" Angelina smiled.

Aiden looked at them, furious. She said she cared about me, and yet now she's on a date with someone else. And they're holding hands. We're not even divorced yet, but she's already searching for a new boyfriend? Wait. They are probably dating behind my back.
