As Aiden quietly climbed the stairs, Angelina couldn't help but feel a sudden pang in her heart. His silhouette appeared unusually solitary and lonely, reminding her of past instances when he exhibited similar behavior due to a fear of speaking. However, it was clear that he had now completely lost any desire to engage in conversation.
Linda's irritation grew as she observed Aiden's demeanor. With her hands on her hips, she confronted Angelina, "I don't understand why you haven't divorced him yet! You need to do it tomorrow. I can't stand this any longer. Let me take you to meet Mr. Chapman!"
"Mom, I'm not divorcing Aiden. Just drop that idea!" Angelina frowned and headed upstairs.
Linda couldn't believe what she was hearing from her daughter. Whenever she discussed the idea of divorce, Angelina had never reacted so strongly.
"Ungrateful brat!" Linda exclaimed, her frustration evident in her voice. "Who am I doing this for anyway? Isn't it for your own good? You used to detest him, too, right? What happiness can you find with this good-for-nothing? And now you're shouting at me?"
Angelina ignored her mother and made her way towards Aiden's door. She knocked but received no response. Deciding to enter, she reached for the doorknob, only to find it locked.
This puzzled her, and she furrowed her brow. It was the first time he had locked the door in three years. Considering that tonight's events had been discussed and clarified, she wondered why she would have waited three years if there was anything between her and Ray.
"Aiden, there's nothing between Ray and me. I invited him for dinner because he offered to help with the Avirax Medicare contract!" Angelina shouted, her voice echoing outside the door.
Met with continued silence, she felt helpless and returned to her room. However, as Angelina turned, she noticed her mother heading upstairs.
"What did you just say? Did Ray assist with the Avirax Medicare contract?" Linda inquired.
Angelina nodded and said, "Yes."
Linda's face lit up with excitement. "Let's invite him over for dinner sometime. He's your college classmate, right? He even gave me a bracelet."
Growing impatient, Angelina looked at her mother, "Mom, can we not discuss that right now?"
Ignoring her daughter's request, Linda continued, "Have you lost your mind? Why are you yelling at me?" She was surprised and quickly became upset.
Unwilling to delve deeper into the subject, Angelina promptly retreated to her room.
Meanwhile, Aiden lay in his room and stared at the ceiling. The image of Ray holding Angelina's hand fueled his anger. He tossed and turned throughout the night, eventually succumbing to sleep in the late hours.
In the adjoining room, Angelina struggled with sleep until early morning. The following morning, she slept in due to having no work commitments and staying up late.
Nevertheless, he stuck to his routine of waking up early. Pulling all-nighters didn't faze him. Upon reaching the medical center, he found the jade pendant he had bought from the middle-aged man.
Aiden quickly called Zachary, telling him he could treat the elderly gentleman that day. Excited by the news, Zachary offered to pick him up immediately.
Aiden ended the call, and soon after, Gina entered. He noticed her radiant expression and greeted her, saying, "Miss Gina, what's the occasion? You seem so happy."
"Visiting little Aiden itself is a joyful occasion!" she replied, giving him a flirtatious look.
He smiled wryly upon hearing this and opted to stay silent.
With a smile, Helena joined the conversation and remarked, "Miss Gina, this guy has been preoccupied lately!"
