"What are you guys talking about?" Jeffrey quickly asked. They're talking in riddles.
The old man looked at him. "No more questions, Jeff. If Mr. Finnegan can cure me, then the story should be laid to rest, never to be spoken again."
Jeffrey heaved a sigh, and he said nothing.
Aiden stood up. "I shall prepare the necessary ingredients. Once I have finished procuring whatever I need, I shall contact you."
"Thank you, Mr. Finnegan." The old man bowed.
As Aiden emerged from the Thatcher Residence, he thought, He must have done that so his comrades could rest in peace. That battle probably sacrificed everyone but him. The sacrifice of these heroes is what keeps Wardom peaceful. We have our silent protectors watching over us. When he exited the villa, Aiden noticed Angelina's car parked outside, and he was surprised.
As Aiden and Zachary approached the exit, Angelina got out of her car.
Zachary winked at Aiden. "I have something to settle, Aiden. See you around."
Aiden nodded and stepped through the exit.
Angelina looked at Aiden, her emotions conflicting. "Are you alright?"
"Why would I not be alright?" Aiden asked, wondering why she was asking that.
Angelina paused for a moment. Hm, they were chatting happily. Probably was fine. "Get in." Angelina opened the car door.
But Aiden didn't move. He looked at Angelina. "What brings you here?"
"I was passing by, and I saw you going into their villa." Angelina got into the car.
In the end, Aiden got into the passenger seat, but none of them spoke on the way back.
Finally, Angelina broke the ice. "Why did he seek you out?"
"He needed my help with a patient," answered Aiden.
Angelina looked at Aiden in surprise. She thought Zachary came because Jeffrey's condition had worsened, but things were not as she thought.
"So, are you done with the treatment?"
Angelina froze, and she stepped on the brakes, her tires skidding to a halt, her car stopping on the empty road. She glared at Aiden furiously. I came because I was worried, and he's saying I stalked him? "You thought I was tailing you?" She looked at him coldly.
"There's no point continuing this relationship. You don't care about me, and your family thinks I'm trash. And you became the city's laughingstock because of me," said Aiden slowly.
