Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 231

Silence fills the room I come to the immediate realization that not only is Aiden a jerk like I thought, but the Suzie plan isn't going to work. Not fast enough at least. I'll have to go to explore my other options. Namely, finding a guard. Someone who knows enough about the pack to help me, but isn't involved enough to be on the alphas' radar.

But who?

I shake my head, deciding to deal with that problem tomorrow. I just wanna go to sleep, but Aiden wakes me back up to ask, "What if your parents come?"

I want to bang my head against the wall. "Isn't that your problem?" I ask.

"No," he says. "It'll probably be Carson's, seeing as he's the face of the boyfriend, right?"

I glare at him. I look around for my phone to set an alarm, but I can't find it. "Do you know where my phone is?" I ask bitterly.

Silence.

I sit up, thinking it'll be by the corner from earlier, but it's on my nightstand beside him. How'd it get there? "Could you hand it to me?" I ask.

"Where is it?" He doesn't even look.

I point.

He reaches for it, reluctantly.

"You know, shouldn't you have a sixth sense for this?" I ask.

"For sensing parents?" He scoffs. "No. That's more your other boyfriend's thing. I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about."

I wish he hadn't said that. I yank the covers again.

Speak of the devil. I have four missed calls from Carson. I ignore them for now, unlocking my phone and going to the clock app. "I'll set an alarm. So stop worrying."

"I need to leave the second you fall asleep," he orders. "So set it soon."

I try to keep my cool. "5?" I ask.

He sighs. "I said soon, Mia. Try 3."

"I'm not gonna fall asleep in thirty minutes." I narrow my eyes.

He narrows his right back. "4 then. Whatever. Just soon."

I set the stupid alarm, tapping the buttons harder than necessary.

"And if I fall asleep," he says. "I need the alarm to wake me up. Not you."

"Anything else?" I ask through clenched teeth.

"Don't make it one of those loud alarms. They give me headaches."

Don't make it one of those loud alarms. They give me headaches. I consider putting the air horn, but decide against it. He's so difficult, and I know he knows it. He just doesn't care.

But that doesn't mean I want to deliberately hurt him. Once the alarm is set, I realize I need to call Carson back. But I'm not going to do it while Aiden's in my bed, argument or not. I don't suppose I could wait for him to fall asleep? But I'm the one who's supposed to be falling asleep. Ugh.

I'll just text Carson. I pull up my messages, but Aiden cuts me off.
