Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 7

Valeria's lips trembled as she pretended to be wronged, her voice soft with practiced innocence.

"Tobias, do you care about this?" she asked, glancing at him with teary eyes.

"If you do, I can go out and clarify things..."

She turned as if to leave, hesitating just long enough for Tobias to react.

Sure enough, his voice rang out, sharp and irritated.

"No need."

Valeria smiled triumphantly.

She had anticipated his every move.

Tobias had always been a private Alpha, a man who hated public attention. If he formally denied their relationship, it would only cause him shame.

That's why, even before Sable's allergic reaction, she had tipped off the reporters.

If Tobias was willing to mobilize the entire pack's healers for Sable, the public would take her side.

She would become the acknowledged Luna of the Silver Crest Pack.

Even if Mia had a mating bond and a marriage certificate, no one would believe it.

She had already lined up online influencers to twist the story—to turn Mia into the other woman, the desperate Omega clinging to a mate who had long since moved on.

Valeria repeatedly refreshed her phone.

Every news article praised Tobias, the Alpha King, for his devotion to his "beloved daughter."

She felt invincible.

Still, she put on her best concerned expression.

"Tobias, what's wrong?" she asked. "You look distracted. Can I share your burden?"

Tobias sighed, rubbing his temples.

"The nurse just told me Rhea was in the hospital too."

Valeria stiffened for a split second.

Tobias continued, "I tried calling Mia, but she's not answering."

Valeria forced a calm smile. "Tobias, it's probably nothing. If Rhea were really in danger, Mia would have told you, wouldn't she?"

Tobias hesitated.

"Alpha, don't worry. Luna loves you too much to stay mad for long."

Tobias frowned.

"You were abroad for three years, and she still waited for you, raising your pup alone. How many she-wolves have that kind of devotion?"

Tobias exhaled.

That made sense.

Mia had fought so hard to marry him.

She had filled entire journals about her secret love for him.

Where else would she go?

He forced a smirk.

"She's just throwing a tantrum. She'll come back."

Relaxing, he sat back down.

"I'll see them once Sable is discharged."
