Joycelyn, who had entered the elevator first and pressed the close button, hesitated for a second when she heard Ruby’s voice.
Right after Ruby finished asking, Ellison answered bluntly. “No.”
For some reason, hearing his refusal made Joycelyn feel a slight thrill inside.
Realizing she might care more than she should, she quickly retreated to the corner of the elevator, trying to distract herself.
As the doors were about to close, they were suddenly opened again by someone outside.
A group of colleagues who had just finished lunch entered the elevator, heading upstairs.
One by one, they filed in, and Joycelyn stepped further into the corner. Since Ellison and Ruby were still outside, the others inside the elevator were all silent, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation.
“It’s only noon, you made your decision too early,” Ruby’s firm voice came from outside.
Ellison didn’t respond and stepped into the elevator where William promptly pressed the button for the top floor.
As both elevators slowly started moving upward, the others inside didn’t notice Joycelyn in the corner and began to whisper among themselves.
“Mr. Grant must really be in love. I envy the woman he’s with. Ms. Wilson, a rich young lady, couldn’t win his heart, so the woman he likes must be really exceptional.” One female colleague spoke with excitement and admiration.
As soon as she said that, the whole elevator buzzed with excitement. Everyone imagined Ellison’s girlfriend must be a stunning beauty or an aristocratic heiress to receive so much attention from him.
Hearing this, Joycelyn felt a little embarrassed.
She lowered her head, gently stroking the ring on her finger.
She wasn’t exactly a beauty, nor an aristocratic young lady, just an ordinary person like everyone else.
But hearing their envious tone still made her feel a little pleased.
Outside, Ruby stood waiting for a long time, her gaze shifting from affection to cold detachment.
She took out her phone and immediately called Linda. “Your assistant mentioned that at the last year–end party, a woman entered Ellison’s room. Get her out of his sight, or you can just find a reason to fire her.”
Linda on the other end seemed surprised but still reported the situation honestly.
After hanging up, Ruby’s face turned dark and sinister.
“Tell your brother to celebrate his birthday early tonight and make all the arrangements.” Ruby immediately gave another
order to Cecilia.
Cecilia frowned slightly, hesitant. “My brother? Isn’t it inappropriate for him to do this? Plus, Ellison already knows about the watch…”

“Don’t worry, Leon and Haddy will be invited too. Besides, how’s your relationship with Mr. Fu going? Don’t you want to take it to the next level?” Ruby smiled at Cecilia, knowing exactly how much she admired Haddy
“Ruby, are you helping me?” Cecilia asked.
“We’re good friends, of course, I’ll help you.” Ruby pinched Cecilia’s cheek and coaxed her.
“But my brother celebrating his birthday early won’t hold up, right?”
“Trust me, I’ve already found the most authoritative professor in the world. Ellison respects his grandmother so much, he’ll definitely show up,” Ruby said, confident in her plan.
She believed all her efforts would move him.
Cecilia, seeing Ruby lost in her fantasy, hesitated but couldn’t help but probe further, “But what if Ellison marries another woman in the future?”
“I’ll make sure she dies,” Ruby hissed through gritted teeth, her tone dangerously obsessive.
