Freya was still mid–conversation when she noticed Sophia getting distracted. Curious, she followed Sophia’s gaze–and spotted Louis walking toward them from the stone path.

Towering sycamores lined both sides of the walkway, leaves fluttering down now and then. Dressed in casual clothes, Louis strolled toward them at an unhurried pace, looking for all the world like he’d stepped out of a painting. He was every bit the elegant nobleman–so beautiful that it made people hold their breath for fear of disturbing the moment.

Of course, Louis had no idea what they were thinking. When he noticed Freya looking over, he instinctively picked up his pace.

“Paperwork’s done. Where’s Aiden?”

“He’s over there playing.” Freya pointed in the direction where Aiden stood. Since Aiden was next to Han Summer, she assumed he was keeping an eye on her, completely unaware that he was just standing there deep in thought, putting on a show of supervision.

“And this is?” Louis hadn’t looked at Sophia once since he walked over.

Sophia had been striking what she believed was her most graceful, intellectual pose–even adjusting her gaze to perfection- just waiting for Louis to notice her. But even after he exchanged a couple lines with Freya, he still hadn’t looked her way.

This was their first time meeting up close, and Sophia’s heart was pounding as she took in Louis‘ profile. No wonder he’s the male lead. That impossibly handsome face, that aloof and composed demeanor, the natural nobility in every move–it all made her pulse race. He really is the ultimate man.

And more importantly, he was her male lead. This was the man she was destined to spend her life with. He’d make a brilliant comeback, rise to dazzling heights, and spoil her and her alone for the rest of their lives. How could she not be excited?

“Oh, this is my husband,” Freya said awkwardly. As usual, saying the word husband made her feel uncomfortable. She glanced at Louis and noticed him finally giving Sophia a passing look–but showing zero reaction to her words.
