“Oh no, I’m so scared. What’re you planning to do? Kidnap me? Rob me?” Freya put on a mock–frightened face. “Don’t forget, we live in a law–abiding society now. Any criminal activity gets flagged fast and dealt with even faster. Just yesterday I saw a report about some mob boss getting taken down–yikes, they really made an example out of him. You’re not thinking about doing something shady, are you? If so, you’d better pace yourself.”

She gave her temple a light tap and clicked her tongue. “Silly me. I forgot–you guys probably don’t even have the money to do anything shady. Don’t take it personally. The Graham family has so many relatives waiting around for dividends, I can’t keep track of who’s in what financial shape.”

The woman, furious, grabbed her purse like she was about to swing it at Freya. But Freya caught her arm mid–air.

“Take it easy. That bag’s not cheap. If you scuff it or rip it, how’re you gonna show off later? I get that you’re having a tough time emotionally, but we’re adults. The least we can do is keep it together in public. You haven’t forgotten where we are, have you?”

The woman froze. Freya gave her a subtle nod toward their surroundings–and sure enough, people nearby were glancing Jover, clearly picking up on the tension, waiting to see if something juicy would happen.

Chapter 124 1

Freya let go and shrugged. “Honestly, Louis has already done more for you people than you deserve. If seeing us is going to trigger some bitter little jealous fit, do us all a favor and walk the other way. Pretend we don’t exist. Because we’ve got nothing left to lose, and more than enough ways to make your life miserable.”

Freya let out a sharp laugh. Unbelievable. This woman really had the gall to blame Louis for everything? She knew the truth. When Louis had taken over Graham Corp, the old man had already stepped back, and the company wasn’t doing great. Profits were down, and the business was a shadow of what it later became.
