+5 Free Coins

That response was so perfunctory. Not a shred of sincerity in it. Freya pouted slightly but decided not to fuss over it with Louis. The man was a big shot, after all–dealing in tens of millions like it was pocket change. Why would he care about someone as insignificant as her? Even if her novel did get adapted, the payout would be in the low millions at most–barely enough for him to buy a car.

Louis had meant to say a few more words, but Freya clearly wasn’t in the mood to chat anymore. Once they got home, she was already buried in her manuscript. Seeing that she didn’t seem upset, Louis simply went off to handle his own matters.

A few days later, Louis had just walked through the front door when he spotted Freya bouncing and twirling in the living room. The moment she saw him, she froze like a statue. He raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing?”

Freya instantly plopped herself back down on her usual spot, giving him an awkward grin. “Nothing. I just got a message from my editor. Someone’s interested in adapting my book.”

“Oh. Congratulations.” Louis switched his shoes at the entryway, then caught sight of the overflowing trash can stuffed with snack wrappers. He hesitated, but couldn’t stop himself from commenting, “Just because you’re happy doesn’t mean you should treat your body like trash. Ease up on the junk food.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” Freya nodded hurriedly, though the words went in one ear and out the other. She had no time to worry about that now. “Hey, I’m buying dinner tonight. What do you say?”
