Chapter 13 His Self–Esteem

“Cough,” Louis cleared his throat. “It’s fine, don’t be too embarrassed. The house is small, and we’ll see each other often. You’ll get used to it.”
“Yes, I’ll get used to it,” Freya nodded repeatedly, then curiously asked, “Aren’t you going out today?”
“The things I needed to do today are finished, so I won’t be going out this afternoon,” Louis replied. Then he suddenly remembered, “Since I won’t be here these days, is there anything you need help with around here?”
Freya hadn’t thought of it until he mentioned it. As soon as he said it, she immediately remembered:
“Yes, the light on the balcony and the pull–down clothes rack seem to be having problems. Do you know how to fix them?”
Freya wasn’t sure about it. Although this was a skill most men should have, for someone like Louis, it was more likely that replacing the broken items would be easier than fixing them. He probably hadn’t picked up such skills in the past.
Louis paused, then said, “I’ll give it a try. Let me check it out first.”
“If it doesn’t work, I can always call someone to fix it later,” Freya had planned to do that anyway.
Louis paused again and replied in a neutral tone, “I haven’t looked at it yet.”
Alright, Louis was a bit proud. She probably should’ve waited for him to check it out before saying something like that. It was her fault for accidentally hurting his pride.
“Yeah, it’s all done,” Louis put the toolbox back in its place. “Is there anything else?”
