Maybe it was the frustration getting to him, but for once, Waylon didn’t call her “Ms. Stone.” The name “Freya” slipped out of his mouth far too naturally.
Louis shot him a glance and saw the irritation written all over his face. He casually dropped a bombshell.
“I almost got divorced.”
“… What?” Waylon had been too caught up watching Freya cling to Jasmine and chat away to process what he just heard. “What did you say?”
“I almost got divorced yesterday,” Louis repeated calmly.
“Then why didn’t you? You two should’ve gotten divorced a long time ago.” Waylon said it without thinking.
Louis had been watching Freya and Jasmine the whole time, but now his gaze shifted sharply to Waylon. His silence was heavy.
Waylon froze. He felt a chill crawl up his spine under Louis‘ gaze and realized what he had just said. Tentatively, he probed, “Wait… you don’t want to get divorced?”
Louis said nothing.
Waylon kept guessing, “You’re not… falling for Ms. Stone, are you?”
“If I divorced her now, it’d make me look ungrateful,” Louis said slowly. “It’s not the right time.”
Waylon couldn’t believe what he was hearing. From Louis–the coldest, sharpest, most ruthless guy they knew?
Unbelievable. Louis had caught feelings–and worse, he didn’t even realize it.
Waylon glanced at Freya again. She was practically leaning into Jasmine, chattering away. He made a mental note to watch the drama unfold between Louis and that “Freya.” This’ll be good.
