Everything Freya said was the truth. Once you joined a film crew, the schedule was out of your hands. A hundred different factors could affect the timeline, and as a screenwriter, her job was simply to keep up and not be the one holding things back; the rest wasn’t up to her.

Louis nodded. “Got it.”

Once everything was finally cooked and packed, Freya could finally start organizing her own things. Louis followed her into her room

This was probably the first time Louis had ever set foot in her bedroom. Freya didn’t think anything of it; there was nothing to hide. She always made her bed in the morning and kept everything neat and tidy–there wasn’t a thing in there that couldn’t be seen.

“You have everything you need?”

Wow, the boss actually cares enough to ask about my stuff. She thought

“Pretty much. I wasn’t missing much to begin with. For what I do need, I’ve made a list–I’ll go out later and pick everything

  1. up.

“You leaving this afternoon?”

“I was planning to, but I got a notice this morning saying the group isn’t meeting until tomorrow afternoon. So I’ll just head out tomorrow morning instead” Freya folded her clothes and packed them into her suitcase. “I rescheduled my bus ticket.”

“What Li

time tomorrow morning?

“Around eight.”

“I’ll take you

Freya paused mid–fold “That’s not necessary. I’m taking the bus straight there–it goes directly to the station. Super convenient.”

“It’s settled.” Louis didn’t sound like he was offering–it was a decision

The next morning. Louis drove her to the station. As Freya thanked him and reached for the door handle, she noticed that it was Louis who came along this time; Derek hadn’t shown up at all

“Be careful when you get there. If anything happens, let me know right away. And if everything’s fine, just check in.” Louis didn’t get out; he turned and looked at her seriously as he spoke.

“Don’t worry. I’m a grown adult–nothing’s going to happen.” Freya patted her chest with confidence. “I’ll take good care of myself. You do the same, alright? Let’s both work hard for our careers.”

One girl smacked her boyfriend lightly on the arm. “Look at that guy–so handsome, and he still makes the effort to come see his girlfriend off. Look at you! Not as good–looking, not as well–dressed, not as classy, and always so lazy”

The guy, who’d just been sneaking peeks at Freya, internally rolled his eyes. If you looked like that woman, I’d worship you like a queen. All you see is the guy–tall, rich, and stylish. Hote about you take a good look at yourself before you start nitpicking me?

But his survival instincts kicked in fast; before the words left his mouth, he pivoted smoothly, “Come on, that’s different. If I had his money and looks, you wouldn’t be taking a bus; I’d get you a private car every day. Think about it–he’s got the looks and the cash, but he still let her take a bus? No way they’re actually dating”

The girl blinked. “You’re right. If she were his girlfriend, there’s no way he’d let her take a bus. If he did, that’d make him a
