Fiction Made Me His Wife (Freya and Louis) novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20 The Dishwasher

“It’s not expensive. Don’t worry about it.Louis said casually.

Freya immediately showed a conflicted expression, which puzzled him. “What’s wrong?”

+5 Free Coins

The truth was, Louis still hadn’t adjusted his mindset. He hadn’t realized that they were no longer as wealthy as before. Freya hesitated, debating whether to bluntly remind him, but when she saw his slightly furrowed brows, the words that were supposed to be a wake up call morphed into something else entirely.

Alright then, I’ll buy one later. You don’t have to bother with it. I’m really picky, so I might take a long time to choose.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she sighed inwardly. Damn, goodlooking people really do have an advantage. She couldn’t even bring herself to say something that might hurt his pride. Oh well, since she had already mentioned that she was picky, it wouldn’t be strange if she took forever to find the perfect dishwasher.

Louis studied her conflicted expression, and suddenly, realization dawned on him. He understood what she was struggling with. For a moment, an odd feeling in his heart. In his early years, grandpa had forced him to experience hardship, so he had known what it was like to be without money. But after completing his training at fifteen, he had never felt that way again. This time it wasn’t that he was broke, it was that his wife thought he was. And yet, even believing that, she never outright mentioned it in front of him. The feeling was strange, almost indescribable.

Freya on the other hand felt that life was going quite well. She even hummed a tune as she scrubbed the plates. I have a place to live, have food to eat, her resold bags and clothes were selling well, and soon I will have enough money for a down payment on my own apartment. Life was only going to get better.

Louis had the capability to make a comeback, it was only a matter of time. And if that happened, maybe he’d even give me some money out of gratitude for not kicking him when he was down. He wasn’t stingy with her even when things were rough, so once he was successful again, he’d probably be even more generous. The thought made her giddy.

Even if Louis never makes a comeback, it does not really matter, she can support herself. For now, at least, she has someone who can barely count as a friend, so she doesn’t have to worry about being completely on her own if something unexpected happens. Besides, there’s no way Louis will sit around doing nothing for the rest of his life. If they end up living a quiet, ordinary life, that wouldn’t be so bad either. Whenever he decides he wants a divorce, she will sign the papers and take her time finding someone more suitable. If they both move on peacefully, that’s good enough.

After finishing the dishes, Freya spent some time writing before deciding to take a nap. Louis suddenly emerged from his room and walked over to the sofa, taking a seat.
