Chapter 203 First Impressions.

Daniel glanced sideways at Freya, finding the young woman unexpectedly interesting.
Thomas listened to Freya’s response and gained new respect for her.
Girls from good families really are harder to fool. But a smart one was even better, more challenging.
Just as Thomas was about to say more, the director took his seat at the head table amid everyone’s polite urging and began his welcoming speech.
Relieved to escape further conversation, Freya immediately turned forward, adopting the attentive posture of a newcomer while secretly studying and memorizing the director’s introductions.
The female lead was Violet Emerson, last year’s Best Newcomer award winner, radiating fresh–faced innocence perfect for first–love roles. The male lead was current heartthrob Jasper Lennox, embodying the warm, boy–next–door type.
Supporting actress Clara Bennett brought both fame and acting chops as the eternally mature younger woman, while Thomas played the brooding, passionate second male lead.
Freya carefully noted all the key crew members.
These people will directly impact my work I don’t need to befriend everyone, but avoiding offense is crucial.
When Zane introduced Freya, he surprisingly gave her special mention, This is Freya Stone, the original author of our story. Though this is her first screenwriting credit, she’s working as assistant screenwriter to gain experience. Still, feel free to consult her. Ms. Stone is tremendously talented and I hope you’ll all support her.”
Flustered by the attention, Freya stood and bowed slightly. “Hello everyone, I’m Freya. I look forward to working with and learning from you all.”
Jasper was the first to respond. “Ms. Stone wrote such an impressive work at such a young age. If anything, we should be learning from you during filming
“You’re too kind. Mr. Jasper, Freya demurred with a smile. “With Mr. Daniel here, I’m just an apprentice.”
This drew polite laughter around the table.
From the moment Jasper laid eyes on Freya, she stood out. The entertainment industry wasn’t lacking in beautiful women who balanced allure with innocence, but Freya’s natural grace–the effortless way she blended both qualities–was something entirely new to him.
When the cast list confirmed she wasn’t an actress, Jasper had smirked watching Thomas approach her.
As Predictable. I knew exactly what the supporting actor was after. But with me here, Thomas wight as well give up now.
When it came, the director simply identified Freya as the novel’s author–no hints about influential ties or privileged lineage. That left two possibilities, either her background was too sensitive to mention, or she truly was an ordinary talent. A bit more probing would determine his approach.
As Zane moved through introductions, Freya faded politely into the background. The obligatory speeches about teamwork fallowed before dinner commenced.
The spread was lavish–easily costing thousands per table–though most leads barely touched their food. Freya understood.
