Chapter 214 A Game Pod Just for You

“In theory, yeah. But we’ve taken steps to prevent that from the beginning. Every game pod we sell is tied to the buyer’s identity. Each unit can be linked to a maximum of three users, and they need to provide proof of their relationship with the owner. If they try to change that later, the system will automatically flag it for price gouging. If we confirm anything suspicious, the account gets banned immediately.

“But people will still find ways to cheat the system, right?”

“That’s unavoidable in any situation. The point is to protect the majority. Since you can only buy one pod every three years, no one’s going to risk that unless they plan to quit gaming altogether. And once someone’s been added to a pod. they can’t buy their own. No rich person wants to deal with that kind of restriction.

“How many pods did you guys prepare?” Freya asked, curious. She guessed maybe a thousand

Five thousand. That’ll cover all orders for day one. We’re producing two thousand units daily, and if we ramp up, we can increase production by another fifty percent. It’ll be more than enough” Louis thought of the one special unit set aside at the company, and his voice softened with a trace of amusement. “We saved one for you too. Don’t worry.”

Freya lit up. “You saved one for me? Oh my god, Louis, you’re the best! Seriously, I love you for this!”

Even though he knew she was just excited, Louis still paused for a second, his breath catching slightly. “You’re this happy over a game pod?”

Totally! I can finally play when I get back. You’re the best! The idea of logging in the moment she got home made her giddy.

“Great. Once you’re home, play all you want. I’ll make sure your account has access to everything in the in–game store, so use whatever you like. Louis knew exactly what made her happy and promised without hesitation.

“Aaah! Love you even more now!” Freya was over the moon. The outfits in the shop were gorgeous, and since the game was permanent now, she could happily roam around in cute dresses and take in the scenery. It sounded like a dream.

They chatted for a bit longer before hanging up. Freya still needed to wrap up her notes for the day, and Louis had a pile of work waiting for him.

As Louis set his phone down, he caught a glimpse of himself in the reflection of the glass. The corners of his mouth were tilted up in a smile, his eyes warm with a fondness he hadn’t even noticed until now. He froze for a moment, then let out a quiet sigh.

If he still didn’t realize just how deep he’d fallen, he’d only be lying to himself. Everything over the past few days made it obvious how he remembered every little thing she asked for, how he wasn’t even in a rush to move but still had Waylon looking into better places, just because he wanted her to be more comfortable.

If that wasn’t being into someone, then what was?

Back in his room, Louis sat down and chuckled softly. It wasn’t as complicated as he’d thought. All those doubts he used to have? They didn’t matter anymore. Now that he knew she was the one, all he wanted was to keep her close–and spoil her every chance he got.

“If you ever find someone you really like, be good to her. Take responsibility. I just know Louis will grow into a good man, won’t he?” Sure, she’s wine. Loving her right–that’s my responsibility.

By midday, she was exhausted. She found a spot to sit and opened the boxed lunch the crew handed out, eager for a break The food wasn’t bad–some veggies, some meat, and soup. Not gourmet, but she wasn’t picky, especially when she had long days on set. If she wanted something better later, she could always grab food on her way home.

If she craved snacks, there were stalls around the film lot. Sometimes she asked extras to grab something for her–tipping them a little extra always did the trick. Compared to shooting in the middle of nowhere, this setup was great. At least here, she wasn’t starving and miserable
