Still, Louis gaze deepened. Freya rarely used that kind of tone–if she was saying their world was a novel, there was probably some truth to it.
Louis didn’t have any strong reaction; he even had the composure to ask Freya. “So, you’re telling me I’m a character from a novel? Then, have you read my life?”
Freya was surprised. “You’re not upset?”
“Not at all. Would you mind telling me what you saw?”
“Well, I didn’t expect to find myself inside a novel either at first. But when I came here, the story had already ended. You were the antagonist. Do you know what that means?”
“I do. I’m the villain?” Even though he had mentally prepared himself, Louis hadn’t imagined he’d be the bad guy. In his mind, antagonists were always those long–winded, incompetent types with antisocial tendencies.
That kind of person was the exact opposite of him–worlds apart. He couldn’t imagine how they’d ever be lumped together.
Freya could tell he was thinking of the stereotypical villain and quickly explained, “Well, you were a special kind of antagonist. You didn’t actually do anything bad. You were just the male lead’s business rival. In the end, your failure wasn’t even your fault–it was because the female lead could foresee all your decisions in advance.”
In that moment, everything clicked for Louis. All those moves he’d made that seemed like they’d been predicted–it wasn’t because Spencer was some genius. It was because his wife had the ability to see the future.
But still-
“That’s not quite right. Even if she could see what was coming. I doubt Spencer would’ve been dumb enough to rely on that alone. I did guide him toward some of those choices.”
Freya thought about it and realized he was right. The original male lead wasn’t some brainless protagonist. He had grown his empire step by step.
Based on his characterization, he wouldn’t have relied solely on his wife’s vision loved her deeply.

his own research before making any decisions.
“So, yeah… a story is just a story. The truth is a bit more complicated. I think maybe once the novel became a real world, it developed its own consciousness, filled in the gaps where it needed to. Even if it started as fiction, the world now feels real.”
“But maybe the story still affects reality somehow. That female lead–can she still see the future?” Louis was already preparing to take extra precautions.
“She probably can’t anymore. The novel’s finished, after all. Normally, once a story ends, the main characters lose their plot armor, so going forward, they’re on their own. That means they won’t be able to predict your actions anymore.”
“So now it’s all up to our own abilities?”
“Exactly. But honestly, I think everyone’s life could be its own story. Like, you’d be a motivational novel, and I’d be a romance. Every person’s different–everyone’s writing their own biography.”
Louis‘ laugh came through the phone. “You’re definitely a romance novel.”
Latiflima
Hearing his low chuckle in her ear, Freya felt her cheeks warm again. So what if I’m a romance? There’s nothing wrong with romance!
The truth was, even knowing their world might still be part of a novel, Louis didn’t feel much different. His past was still his own; his present was still his to live. Unless the plot forcibly took away someone he cared about, he was going to keep doing exactly what he intended to do.
Just like he believed Spencer would’ve become someone even without the so–called help of a female lead, personality mattered. Even if fate shifted, a determined heart could still make its. way through. The road might get twisty, but it was still his to walk.
After all, every life was still a life. His grandfather had told him that when he was a kid. Life is a journey. The mountain peaks aren’t the only places with a view. There’s beauty in the valleys too. The only real tragedy is not being able to accept reality and ruining your life with your own hands.
