Chapter 243 I Didn’t Come Here to Gossip
Freya hadn’t expected Louis to accept the idea of being a character in a novel so easily without the slightest sign of discomfort or resistance.
Which only made her feel even luckier to have met him. Having a mature, level–headed, and positive partner, that was a true blessing.
The two of them chatted a little longer before hanging up the phone.

Freya didn’t think Sophia was after Louis specifically. She assumed Sophia was trying to stir something up between her and Louis. So when it came to anything involving the two of them, Freya didn’t say a word. Sophia’s guest role was nearly finished, and she still hadn’t heard a single useful thing.
That night, back at the hotel, Sophia smashed several glasses in frustration.
Her manager, Claire, scowled. “What the heck is your problem now? You’ve been completely off these past few days. Whatever it is, it’s starting to affect your work. Just look at how many times you blew your cues today. If it weren’t for the connections with the execs, do you Mr. Zane would’ve let you walk away unscathed?”

“I’m just upset that I can’t seem to get into the role,” Sophia muttered, forcing herself to hold back her anger. She couldn’t say what she was really angry about.
But of course she was furious. She’d come here hoping to dig up some dirt or insight, and several days had gone by with nothing to show for it. It was just a guest role–there couldn’t be that many scenes. She’d used every excuse she could think of to stall filming until today, and still, Freya hadn’t given her a single useful thing.
If she couldn’t finish filming tomorrow, never mind Zane–she’d be too embarrassed to face anyone. Even the worst actresses weren’t this dense. She didn’t want to be remembered as the crazy one who couldn’t perform a simple guest role.
Now she was really starting to suspect there was something off about Freya. The system had confirmed she hadn’t time–traveled or been reborn, but even without the pull of the original story, Freya was still impossible to get a read on.
She’s nothing like the money–hungry airhead from the story anymore.

Chapter 243 1 Didn’t Come Here to Gossip
Taking a deep breath, Sophia picked up her phone–about to do something she hadn’t planned to do.
“I swear, can’t you just focus on your script?” Claire had been scolding her for a while now.
ve had days, and no matter what, you have to wrap tomorrow. Don’t think I don’t know -you’re stalling on purpose. I don’t care what you’re plotting, but that magazine shoot the day after tomorrow? You are not backing out. I fought hard to get you that opportunity.”
When she saw Sophia reaching for her phone like she was about to make a call, Claire quickly grabbed her hand and barked, “No more distractions.”
Sophia forced a smile. “Don’t worry, Claire. I’ll finish everything tomorrow. I’ve made up my mind–no more screw–ups.”
“You’d better not. Otherwise, you’ll embarrass yourself in front of the entire entertainment industry. Whatever you’re thinking, push it aside. If you rub Mr. Zane the wrong way, you’ll be the one paying for it. He gets a bad impression, and you can forget about working with any top directors in the future.”
Claire was getting angrier by the second.
“You’ve lost your damn mind lately. You used to have decent instincts. But the way you’ve been acting–if someone wanted to use that against you, it’d be a PR nightmare. And don’t forget, we barely even have money left to pay for a trending search!”
“I’ve got my own reasons, okay? I won’t screw it up tomorrow.” Sophia knew perfectly well. But she was stuck. If she could win over Louis, she’d be set for life–she could easily become Best Actress.
Just look at Kendrick’s background–if he stepped in to help her, she’d have nothing to worry. about in this industry.
As long as she became someone Louis cared about, she could have anything she wanted. That was what really mattered.
