Chapter 279 A Sudden Friend Request
Aiden had spent over an hour bored out of his mind playing on his phone, convinced his brilliant reputation was being sacrificed for Louis‘ love life. When they finally emerged, the weird tension between the two adults made him want to bang his head against a wall. On the way back, he sidled up to Louis, shooting him a pointed look as if saying-“how are you still failing at this?“–only to get flicked on the forehead for his trouble.
That night, Louis retreated to his room to handle work, leaving Aiden curled up near Freya as she typed away at her laptop. Just as she hit her writing stride, her phone pinged with a friend request notification.
The sender’s note was oddly familiar, but with no actual identification, Freya had zero clue who it might be.
Hesitating, she accepted anyway–better safe than sorry–and immediately messaged, “Hi! Sorry, I changed numbers and lost many contacts. Who is this?” Polite, but clear she wasn’t ignoring them intentionally.
No reply came. Instead, she was abruptly added to a group chat where a flood of greetings bombarded her.
“OMG Freya’s here! Long time no see! Miss us?”
“Freya, how could you change your number without telling us? We had to hunt you down!”
“Don’t blame her. After everything she went through, of course she didn’t want to talk. But it’s all good now–she’s back!”
“Seriously, Freya, you’ve been through so much. But look at you now–landing Mr. Graham? Major glow–up. We’re all jealous!”
“Everyone shut up! Freya just got here. Freya, say hi!”
Freya stared at her screen, baffled. These people acted like old friends, yet every name was utterly unfamiliar.
Playing nice, she typed, “Hi, everyone.”
e chat exploded again “Cryone.”
“Wow, Freya’s so formal now! Should I start bowing?”

“Cut the act. Freya might think we’re mad at her. Freya, ignore her–we’re just thrilled you’re here! Congrats on winning over Mr. Graham!”
“Yes! We were so worried when you ghosted us. We never judged you, but we knew we couldn’t help, so we stayed away to avoid stressing you out.”
“My dad even asked around for business leads, but then we couldn’t reach you! You didn’t have to cut us off–we could’ve been your intel network!”
“We stayed back ‘cause we didn’t want you thinking we were here to laugh. We weren’t!”
“I brought your favorite perfume from Freah to cheer you up, but you vanished! I had asked everyone for your number but couldn’t find it. I freaked out!”
