Chapter 278 The Sci–fic
The moment Freya returned, both Louis and Aiden snapped back to their usual composed selves.
At the movie theater, Aiden immediately declared he wanted to watch the animated film. Freya hesitated–the cartoon looked painfully juvenile–but then she glanced at Aiden. whose head barely reached Louis‘ waist, and reminded herself he was just a kid.
“Alright, we’ll watch the animated one then.”
“No no no! I’ll go by myself. I’m not a little kid anymore. I promise I’ll wait outside afterward and won’t wander ofl. You and Uncle should watch something else.”
Sacrificing myself to sit through a dumb cartoon is bad enough. If the noble plan failed and Freya and Louis witnessed this cringe–fest, I might actually lose it.
“Leave him be.” Louis tugged Freya back. “What do you want to watch?”
“Okay, if you’re sure…” Freya chalked up Aiden’s behavior to a kid craving independence. “But stay safe, and shout if you need us.”
Aiden nodded vigorously before scampering off to buy his ticket, effectively dumping Freya on Louis.

Once inside, Freya–normally a running commentary machine–sat unusually still, barely touching her popcorn or soda, eyes glued to the screen.
“You’re really into this.” Warm breath brushed Freya’s ear, making her jolt.
She turned instinctively, her lips accidentally grazing Louis‘ check. Flustered, she jerked back –only for his arm to steady her. “Why so jumpy?”
“You startled me!” Freya hissed, pressing a hand to her pounding chest.
“Not cating or drinking… Do you need me to feed you?” Louis deadpanned as he helped her sit upright.
“What? No! I just got distracted. Don’t you think the effects are amazing? She leaned closer, excitement bleeding into her whisper.
“I’m thinking of adapting a famous author’s work from my world–Ms. Emily. It’d make an

Her eyes sparkled. “With effects like these, her fantasy novels would look insane on screen.”
“Sounds promising.”
Freya snorted. “You don’t even know the story and you’re already endorsing it?”
