“Even as a total outsider, I couldn’t sit back and watch. Have I really fallen behind the times? It’s just a supporting role in a TV show, and people are losing their minds. I’ve seen a lot, but this? This is a first.”
“I feel so bad for Sophia. She meant well and ended up getting treated like trash. Stop being so nice, seriously–some people don’t deserve it. You deserve better. Go do a project that’s actually worthy of you.”
“I’ve read the book, and honestly, the author never seemed like that kind of person. A story usually reflects the author’s values, and theirs seemed pretty solid. And if she really had connections, wouldn’t it make more sense to land the lead role? Something’s not adding up here.”
Amid the wave of hate, a few voices still spoke up for Freya. That gave her some comfort. Still, she knew something bigger was going on–and she needed to figure out what.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a message from Clara.
“Ignore the noise on Twitter. The production team will likely clear it up. It sounds like the show’s release date clashed with another series, and someone’s stirring up drama on purpose. Unfortunately, that means you got caught in the crossfire–as the original author and one of the writers, you’re the easiest target. But don’t worry. Let’s wait it out. Maybe ask Mr. Graham to look into it. I bet this will turn around soon.”
Freya quickly replied. “Yeah, I figured there’s more going on. I’m not rushing to respond–I’ll handle it when the time’s right.”
Meanwhile, Sophia was losing it.

She called Claire, furious. “Why didn’t you tell me you were planning this? Do you even realize who Freya has behind her? Louis and Kendrick. You think it’s sm someone with that kind of backup? You realize she and I are supposed to public eye, right?”
Claire was caught off guard and getting annoyed herself. “Why are you yelling at me? Of course I know who she’s got behind her. But the Scott family is backing us on this one, and Mr. Dean’s never gotten along with them anyway. So even if Louis and Kendrick are in the picture, what can they really do? This is business, plain and simple. And please, spare me the whole ‘we’re friends‘ thing. This industry doesn’t run on friendships. Friendship doesn’t count for much. You’re the lead in this series, and their show launched at the same time. It’s head–to–head. Normal competition. So why are you freaking out?”

Sophia snapped back, her voice low and panicked. “You don’t get it. You think this is just about a role. But if this thing blows up and people find out I had anything to do with it? I’m toast. My name, my career–it’s over. I’ve had issues with other actresses before, but this isn’t the same. If I go up against her, it’s not just a personal feud. Louis and Kendrick won’t let it go. Mr. Dean can’t cover for me forever.”
Her mind was racing. She wanted Freya out, no doubt. But going after her directly? That was suicide. Louis would absolutely step in. With how public everything was right now, going after Freya would be like calling him out directly. She was still his wife on paper. Publicly humiliating her would be like slapping him across the face.
Besides, what did she really stand to gain from letting Mr. Dean use her to go after Louis?
And let’s be real–Dean wasn’t Louis. Sure, he had power, but he was in his thirties, not nearly as attractive, and everyone knew he was a player. Sophia would have to be crazy to fully tie herself to a guy like that–especially if it meant going head–to–head with Freya and the people backing her.
Still, there was no way she could say any of that to Claire. Claire only cared about the career -the headlines, the roles, the money. What happened to Sophia personally? Not her problem.
But right now, she was backed into a corner. She had to find a way to pull herself out of this mess without ticking off Mr. Dean. No way was she going down with this ship.
Back at home, Freya had just replied to Clara when a message from Violet popped up- another note of support. Then more started rolling in, from friends, colleagues, and even people she hadn’t spoken to in a while. Maybe some of them had their own reasons for reaching out, but still–Freya felt a wave of quiet gratitude. The fact that they cared enough to check in? That meant something.
