But in the end, a boss was still a boss. At least in terms of physical strength, Freya could be flattened in seconds. She had every intention of not letting him help, yet before she could even react, Louis had already taken two of the bags from her with effortless case. Then he strode off ahead, leaving Freya hurrying to catch up behind him.
Even holding two of the most common clear plastic grocery bags couldn’t dull Louis‘ air of elegance. The pressure from the bags left two faint red marks on his slender, refined fingers, but it didn’t diminish their beauty in the slightest.
Freya looked down at her own equally slender fingers and sighed softly. Same species, but I can never see myself as particularly elegant or refined. That was probably the result of upbringing. Even if she was technically more beautiful than in her last life, she just didn’t exude that innate sense of grace.
“Why aren’t you walking?” Louis had taken a few steps when he realized the person behind him hadn’t caught up. He stopped and turned his head slightly.
“Coming! I saw some nice tomatoes over there. Thought I’d make pork ribs.” Freya quickly caught up and pointed at the tomatoes she’d had her eye on. “Or maybe tomato soup–that’d be nice too.”
“Then go get them.” Louis actually liked sour flavors, though not vinegar. Over the past few days, he’d noticed that the meals at home had become more and more suited to his taste. While not exactly gourmet, there was a warmth and personal touch no restaurant could replicate. He figured Freya must’ve paid attention to his preferences and adjusted accordingly. She seemed to enjoy the food too.
They ended up buying a lot more ingredients, along with a good amount of must–have snacks. Only then did Louis head off to get the paper he’d come for. Freya followed him to the shelf, but when she saw him just standing there and not making a move, she asked, “Weren’t you going to get paper?”
Louis raised his hands–both of them were full of bags. Freya quickly reached out to take some, but Louis dodged her and said, “You grab a pack of A4.”
