Chapter 351 No Better Option
Chapter 351 No Better Option
The department head–personally appointed by Andres to assist Sebastian–was blunt. He didn’t sugarcoat anything: business was business. If there was no benefit in getting involved. then they shouldn’t.
He made it clear that they could toss a few favors the Scott family’s way–as a sort of investment in Sebastian’s attempt to marry into the family–but picking a direct fight like this? That was just asking for trouble. Up until now, their platform had profited from playing both sides in the Womez–Scott rivalry. So what the hell were they doing now?
To drive the point home, the guy even threw in a jab: “Mr. Dean’s already run eight data boosts through us, and he still hasn’t settled the bill from last month. Said he’d send someone over–never happened.”
Of course Sebastian knew that. But he’d been chasing Savannah for so long, pouring time, energy, and resources into her. If he gave up now, people would say he couldn’t seal the deal. He’d be a walking punchline.
Grinding his teeth, he forced a calm reply. “I’ve got this. Don’t worry about it. Just go. We’ll regroup tonight.
The department head had said his piece. He couldn’t make the call for Sebastian anyway. But since Andres had told him to keep the kid in check, he figured he’d offered enough warnings. No need to push it further.
Meanwhile, Freya had finished writing another chapter and opened Twitter. Still no movement from Sophia’s side, which she found… odd. Could it be that Sophia had stirred up the drama just for the publicity?
But then again, what was
the point of self–sabotaging just to get attention?
Or maybe they were biding their time, waiting for the perfect moment to hit back?
Either way, Freya didn’t believe for a second that Sophia would give up this easily.
Truth was, Sophia had no choice but to trust Dean–and Dean, in turn, was counting on his
That evening, over dinner, Sebastian wasn’t his usual self. In the past, he would’ve fallen over himself trying to impress Savannah, but tonight he was clearly distracted. When Savannah tried to guide the conversation toward the ongoing scandal–dropping subtle hints about how hard her brother had worked, and how much she liked Sophia as an actress–Sebastian didn’t even bite.
Instead, he just told her to eat more.

Chapter 851 No Better Option
Savannah kept her smile polite, but a sharp alarm bell rang in her head. Was her brother right? Had she left Sebastian dangling for too long? Was he finally getting tired of waiting?
From Savannah’s perspective, a man who chased a woman with sincerity and strategy showed at least some genuine affection. And Sebastian? He’d pulled every string he could just to be close to her. That was a solid seven–out–of–ten on the sincerity scale. So if someone like that stopped bending over backward for her, it could only mean one thing–he was starting to wake up.
Businessmen, especially those raised in old–money families, rarely let emotions get in the way of strategy. Guys like Sebastian were rare: sentimental but ambitious. Savannah had already planned to marry him eventually. She just hadn’t agreed yet, because she wanted him
bored on to keep valuing her. She didn’t want him to get he “won”
But now? If Sebastian no longer jumped at her every word, that was a problem.
“You seem a little distracted tonight,” she said softly, sweet as ever. “Did something happen today?”
That’s the cue. Sebastian had been waiting for her to ask.
The moment she did, he laid it on thick–painting his current dilemma in the most sympathetic light possible. He talked about the pressure he was under, the tough calls he had to make, the political minefields he was dodging.
The point of it all? He hoped she’d understand that smearing Freya wouldn’t help anyone. If she wanted Sophia’s name cleared, then building a positive persona was the way to go.
Of course, he didn’t say it that bluntly. He dressed it up with careful wording, but Savannah caught the meaning loud and clear: Sebastian still had to listen to his grandfather.
Even if he technically oversaw Twitter, he didn’t hold absolute control. Savannah could only count on Sebastian’s affection–nothing more. And given that her father and brother were reluctant to pay out of pocket for anything unless there was a guaranteed benefit, she had no real leverage to force his hand.
That lack of power stung.
She knew family businesses always came with baggage–overbearing elders, political maneuvering, and the constant threat of being cut out. But compared to someone like Louis, Sebastian really did fall short.
