Chapter 354 No Room for Mercy
The other reporters instinctively turned toward Louis. His expression had grown event colder, his gaze darker and sharper. He let out a low scoff, thick with mockery
“No.” Louis said flatly, “but for people like you–who twin the truth for money and have no
moral bottom line–I’ll defeat you with legitimate means, so thoroughly you’ll never
recover.
With that, he didn’t give them a chance to respond. He swept Freya into a bridal carry and strode off without looking back.
When a few of the reporters tried to follow, he turned with a single, icy glare.
“Come any closer,” he said, “and prepare to lose everything.”
The grown froze.
As Louis carried Freya farther away, a young woman muttered, “Mr. Dean told us to either dig up dirt or get video that could smear Ms. Freya… but we didn’t get anything. What are we supposed to report back with?”
A more seasoned man snapped, “Yeah, and Mr. Dean also said Mr. Graham didn’t care about his wife, so he wouldn’t retaliate. You believe that? Clearly, that’s not the case. Now we’ve got Mr. Graham pissed, and who knows what’s coming for us next.”
“We’re screwed either way,” another man added bitterly. “Mr. Dean won’t be happy we failed, and Mr. Graham’s not about to let this slide. We’ve got no one on our side now.”
A woman with a sharp tone clicked her tongue.
“You’re all so naive. You really think Mr. Dean’s going to protect us just because we helped him? He’s probably already too busy saving his own skin. This isn’t our problem to worry about anyway. We did what we were told. Let’s just send what footage we have to the boss and let them handle the rest.”

Louis carried Freya back to the complex. Freya finally couldn’t hold back and lifted her head from his chest.
“Did they follow us?” she asked. “Why don’t you put me down? I’m not fragile, and

exhausting for you to carry me. I’ll go talk to them.”
But Louis didn’t let her down.
“There’s no need to talk to them. They’re not real reporters–just hired trash trying to dig up dirt. Their goal is to smear your name. I’ll deal with them soon. But we can’t go out again tonight. Let’s just take a walk around the neighborhood. Sound good?”
Freya had never dealt with reporters ambushing her before. In her last life, she’d never been important enough to attract this kind of attention. So this was a first. Her understanding of the media only came from what she saw online.
“They’re not real reporters?” she asked.
“Legitimate journalists don’t waste time chasing people down like that,” Louis said. “They usually schedule interviews. And even if they wanted to ask questions, they wouldn’t come after me–or disturb you like that.”
People like them didn’t get surprise visits from journalists. Not unless those journalists were willing to get blacklisted permanently. No media company would risk offending the Graham family just for a scoop.
Even if a journalist somehow got ahold of sensitive info, the platform would review it, then reach out for confirmation and negotiations. It was a well–established, unspoken rule.
So the moment Louis saw what was happening, he knew Dean was behind it again–pulling petty, underhanded moves as usual.
And even if those people had gotten compromising footage, Sebastian wouldn’t dare release it–not after Louis’s warning. And if Sebastian really did lose his mind and try it, Louis was The footage would never see the confident Andres had already set up safeguards at Twitte light of day.
Worst–case scenario? If it somehow did leak, Louis knew Andres would do whatever it took to keep him happy. That would include replacing the head of Twitter and letting Louis use whatever leverage he had to scrub Freya’s name clean. The Wells family would have no choice but to apologize and submit.
