“Ethan, let’s not kid ourselves–we all know who we’re dealing with here,” said the pot–bellied man, voice dripping with sarcasm. “We’re not outsiders. Everyone here’s well aware of what’s going on. And come on, even if you’ve got materials to clean up your image, why post them on some low–traffic public account instead of Twitter?”
“Releasing a statement needs to be done step by step,” Ethan replied, his face darkening instantly. “You haven’t been involved with the company for a long time, so of course you wouldn’t understand how to manage public response properly.”
“And another thing, what do you mean, ‘everyone knows who I am? What do you mean, ‘it’s all true? Do you even realize how easily someone with an agenda could twist your careless words? Or are you saying you were in on this mess too?”
A lean middle–aged man jumped in with an awkward chuckle.
“Come on now, Ethan. That sharp tongue of yours hasn’t dulled a bit. We’re all on the same team, what’s there to argue about? What matters most right now is salvaging the company’s reputation and stock value. Everything else can wait. But seriously, why didn’t you post on Twitter first? Nothing draws traffic like Twitter these days.”
“Exactly,” someone from the back chimed in. “If you’ve got solid evidence that can turn things around, just put it on Twitter. Why go through all that extra trouble with a public account? Who even reads those anymore?”
Ethan looked at them with thinly veiled contempt.
“All you care about is Twitter’s traffic, but have you thought about who uses Twitter? It’s mostly younger people, especially students, with no real spending power. People who follow public accounts, on the other hand, tend to be adults with actual purchasin lity. So tell me, which one’s more valuable?”
The chubby man snorted. “The ones on Twitter are young fans who’ll drop cash on their idols. The ones reading public accounts are penny–pinching adults obsessed with saving money and drinking herbal tea. So, again, which do you think matters more?”
“Jeez, you guys,” another voice interjected. “Give Ethan a break. I heard the Wells family just dragged Sebastian back recently–he’s the one who likes Savannah, right? Now Andres is personally handling Twitter. If they’re not giving Ethan any face, that’s normal. It just means it’ll take more time and effort!”
That person had casually laid the issue out on the table–no more hiding it.
The pot–bellied man chuckled and plastered on a fake smile.

“Ethan, you should’ve just said it was tough. We’re not here to strong–arm you. Of course we’ll give you a couple days to sort things out. But hey, all these years of working together- I’ll say this much, Sebastian’s a decent kid. But if Savannah doesn’t like him, don’t force it. Her happiness matters more than anything. As for Andres? You’ll need to bring real money to the table if you want to talk.”
If Ethan hadn’t still had some shred of rationality, he might’ve grabbed the chair beneath him and smashed it over the guy’s head. Don’t pressure me? And yet he’d just publicly put a two–day deadline on his shoulders. Then he had the gall to pretend to care about Savannah’s well–being, all just to block Ethan from forcing her into a relationship with Sebastian.
And on top of it all, he still managed to stomp all over Ethan’s reputation. Like hell he cared about his daughter. As if you’ve ever loved yours more than I’ve loved mine.
Savannah sat silently at the back, head lowered. She knew she didn’t have a say in this room. Dean just watched the whole thing like it was a bad comedy and didn’t bother speaking either.
After the meeting, Ethan brought Savannah and Dean into his office. His face was like a thundercloud. The second he sat down, he turned to Savannah and asked coldly:
“Have you had any contact with Louis? If you were to get close to him, do you think you could get him interested in you?”
Neither Savannah nor Dean had expected that. Savannah didn’t even hesitate–she shook her ⚫ head immediately.
“Dad, Louis is already married. And like you said, he clearly stands up for his wife. I’m not some great beauty–why would he be interested in me?”
Besides, uld’ve been
“Getting a man interested has nothing to do with beauty–it’s about novel standing up for his wife is just a matter of pride. If he really liked her, he chasing after her from the start. He ignored her at first, didn’t he? And don’t act like you don’t know how to flirt. You managed just fine with Sebastian and the others.”
Savannah’s face twisted at his words. What kind of father said that about his own daughter? What did he take her for?
