Louis, on the other hand, was growing visibly irritated. More and more people were casting glances their way–particularly the men. Now that some finally felt justified in openly staring at Freya, it made his expression darken. His brows drew tight as he snapped:
“If you’re going to apologize, hurry up. You’ve already got enough witnesses.”
Standing here, forced to apologize to another woman in front of the man she had longed for -Sophia was both humiliated and bitter. She barely resisted the urge to tear Freya apart on the spot. Instead, she squeezed out another smile.
“Freya, I’ve messaged you so many times, but you wouldn’t forgive me. That’s why I came to apologize in person. What happened on Twitter, it was all my agent’s doing–I didn’t even know she was planning to drag you into it. If I had, I never would’ve agreed. You’re not still angry with me, are you? You know I’ve never been the scheming type. I’d never try to hurt you. Please forgive me. I haven’t been able to sleep since…”
She slightly tilted her body, angling her face toward Louis with what she believed was her best side. Her voice was soft, her tone sweet, and she wore a heartbroken expression like a flower trembling in the rain–pure and pitiful.
Freya hadn’t said anything yet, but the surrounding murmurs had already begun:
“Ms. Sophia doesn’t look like the scheming type. It’s not impossible for a manager to act without permission. This whole thing might’ve just been an unfortunate misunderstanding. Mrs. Graham doesn’t need to be so hard on her.”
“Tsk. I used to hear Mr. Graham wasn’t interested in women. Now it seems he’s just loyal to his wife. No matter how pretty the others are, he won’t give them a second look. Look at this poor girl, being forced into an apology over something so minor.”
“Mr. Graham’s got quite the luck–this might just be a jealous lover’s spat. Still, it’s rare to see a woman so hung up on a man. Too bad he won’t even glance at her. She’s basically invisible to him.”
“Ms. Sophia might not be as beautiful as Mrs. Graham, but she’s got her own charm- delicate and sweet. Shame she ran into someone like Mr. Graham who’s blind to it. If it were me, I’d at least show her some compassion.”
“Typical showbiz woman. Sharp, but that’s what makes them interesting. Mr. Graham’s wife is out of reach now, but this Ms. Sophia isn’t bad. Pity she’s wasting time on a man who wouldn’t notice her even if she set herself on fire.”

The murmurs weren’t loud, but the implications were clear enough from Sophia’s performance. Louis and the others didn’t need to hear every word to understand the tone.
Louis’s face grew even colder. Just as he was about to speak, Kendrick beat him to it.
Kendrick had been around the entertainment industry long enough. He didn’t bother holding back–his words went straight to the point.
“Ms. Sophia, I’ve been in this business for years. And I’m from the Womez family. Do you think putting on this little act in front of me is fooling anyone? Are you insulting my intelligence, or yours? Or do you actually believe we can’t see what you’re trying to do here?”
Forget Kendrick and Louis–even half the men nearby could tell Sophia was putting on a performance. But most of them didn’t care. Some even enjoyed it. A few preferred women like her–scheming, performative. They thought it made things more exciting.
Sophia immediately turned to Kendrick, putting on a pitiful look, complete with tears in her eyes. Kendrick just chuckled.
“Ms. Sophia, not to hurt your feelings, but with your looks–even if you cry your heart out, you’re nothing next to my Freya. Hasn’t anyone told you? No matter how pretty a white lotus looks, it’s still nothing compared to a peony.”
