Chapter 43 Easy Money

+5 Free Coins

When Freya got home, Louis was sitting on the couch with his laptop. Even just sitting there staring at a screen, he looked like someone you could casually photograph and turn into a screensaver. Dressed in loungewear, his noble aura mixed with a laid–back ease, making him even more strikingly handsome.

Hearing the door open, Louis looked up at Freya. She placed her bag on the TV console by the entrance, changed her shoes and clothes, and went to the bathroom to wash her hands–smiling the entire time. Her mood was clearly excellent.

“You’re back?” Louis took the initiative to speak since she hadn’t said anything.

Freya was already drying her hands. After finishing, she suddenly bounced out of the bathroom with a loud thump, a radiant grin on her face that practically sparkled. She waved her ever–present phone and couldn’t hide the glee in her voice.

Then I played the poor card and flattered her into a corner, made it sound like if she didn’t give me something, I’d start telling people she wasn’t as kind as she pretended to be. She had to cough up some cash to protect her image.”

Freya looked especially smug as she told the story, like she’d pulled off a major win. Paired with her naturally beautiful face,. she looked adorably proud. Louis suddenly thought back to how the original Freya used to blow money on bags every day, and yet the woman in front of him was this happy over a mere hundred thousand dollars. A strange feeling stirred in his

Grinning from ear to ear, Freya opened up her phone and said to Louis, “Come on, open Venmo. I’ll send it to you. It’s free money anyway–consider it her way of paying you back. You use it. That way, you won’t have to worry about us not having enough.”

“Huh?” Freya blinked, puzzled. She thought for a moment–nothing came to mind. “Not really. Nothing’s broken around the house or anything.”

That wasn’t what Louis meant, but judging by her expression, she clearly hadn’t made the same mental leap. Different backgrounds, different livesit creates totally different ways of thinking. He didn’t press the issue, simply took out his phone and opened Venmo, holding it out to her.
