You’re already on a roller coaster–was there really any need to keep up the air of elegance this hard?

Freya felt the rush of wind hitting her face and her body swaying uncontrollably with every twist and turn. She glanced over at the man next to her, who remained utterly composed–even while being thrown left and right, sometimes nearly upside down. She couldn’t help but grumble in her heart.

Louis really could stay that calm. What fun was a roller coaster if you weren’t going to react at all?

The ride wasn’t long–barely a few minutes–and by the time the speed began to slow and the screams around them started to die down, Aiden’s face was still lit up with excitement. Freya, meanwhile, looked over at Louis, whose slightly windblown hair did nothing to dull his looks or his aura.

Forget it. He’s just on another level. I can’t compete with that.

“Freya, wasn’t that awesome?” Aiden tugged at her arm the moment his feet hit solid ground, barely managing to stay upright in his excitement. “Last time I came I was kinda nervous, but this time I wasn’t scared at all! I think I’m super brave now!”

Freya quickly steadied him, though she didn’t dare move herself too much. “Yes, yes, our Aiden is super brave. Only eight years old and already not afraid of roller coasters–way better than I was. When I rode one in middle school, I actually cried.”

There’d been a roller coaster in a park near her home back then. On a rare day off, her parents had taken her to try it. She’d kept her eyes shut the entire time and had broken down crying once she got off. She had been just a little girl–new to anything that thrilling. No shame in that.

“You really were a scaredy–cat,” Aiden teased, patting her hand. “But don’t worry, if you ever get scared again, just hold on to me. I’ll be right there, and you won’t need to be afraid.”

Aww, thank you, Aiden.” Her heart melted on the spot. Paired with his adorably serious face, his words were just too precious -like a little guardian angel in disguise.

Wait, what? Since when did she want to ride bumper cars? Freya blinked. “I didn’t say I wanted to. I just suggested it, that’s all.”

What the heck? That wasn’t the point. She really didn’t want to ride bumper cars. The only reason she mentioned them was because she didn’t know many amusement park rides. She had never been to one before!
