“There are industries far more profitable than real estate. No point sitting on property just waiting for the price to go up. Better to cash out and invest elsewhere,” Louis said plainly.
Well, she was a noob. She didn’t get this kind of stuff.
Ding–the elevator doors opened, and the three of them stepped out together. The staff member politely opened the door to the unit and gestured for them to enter. The apartment was still bare concrete floors and walls–just a model for viewing layout–but it matched what Freya had pictured. Plenty of natural light too.
Louis didn’t offer any opinion. In the end, Freya made the call to take it.
Once the decision was made, all that was left was to handle payment. Since it involved a mortgage, the process took a bit longer. By the time they’d finished everything and left, a good chunk of the day had passed.
Aiden was at a friend’s house today and wasn’t coming home, which meant only Louis and Freya would be at the apartment. Freya thought for a moment, then made a decision.
“To show my appreciation, I’ve decided to treat you to dinner. Don’t expect anything fancy though–I can’t afford that. You’ve had your share of high–end cuisine anyway. This time, come try something different with me, yeah?”
Louis gave her a sidelong glance and nodded, surprisingly gracious about it. He was a little curious about what kind of place she had in mind.
Following her directions, he parked the car at the designated spot. Once they were out and walking, he finally saw where she’d brought him… a food street.
The sheer shock in that voice was unmistakable. Freya turned her head and saw a well–dressed young man staring at them in disbelief. He glanced between her and Louis, his face full of incredulity, then murmured to the woman clinging to his arm:
The woman gave him a not–so–gentle slap on the arm, snapping him out of it. Noticing Louis looking his way, the man quickly smiled and said, “Nora insisted on street food tonight, so I came along. Mr. Louis is out with his wife too, huh? This street’s food is actually pretty good–safe and hygienic. Worth a try.”
Louis nodded but didn’t say anything more. He turned to look at Freya. Startled, she quickly gestured for him to proceed.
