When Vicky heard what the leading police had said, and her heart dropped a massive beat. As her body shivered imperceptibly, deep down she knew that the culprit was none other than Vincent. Two million yuan was a huge sum, and there was no way she could pay up that amount of money. She felt like her live was ruined from that moment on.
Vincent was still arguing vehemently and loudly, and Vicky who had gradually come to her senses began to wail, “It’s not us, you guys are mistaken. The culprit is Quincy that bastard, let us go…”
Her increasing volume sounded as if she was trying to wipe away her crime with her loud voice.
“Bring them away!”
The police in the lead shook his head helplessly as a few policemen brought Vicky and Vincent away.
In the past, no matter what Vicky did, she would never become an embarrassment like how she was at the moment. She vowed herself to always be better and have a better life than Quincy, so that she could always validate her own choice to leave Quincy in the first place. However, Vicky was exasperated and barbaric as she loudly defended herself, completely forgetting about Quincy.
The two of them were shoved out of the hall rudely by policemen.
Quincy and Jane exchanged a consolation glance, as they finally were able to clear their names after more than a month.
In a remote corner at the end of the banquet, Quincy patted Stanley’s shoulders to show his gratitude towards him about organizing the banquet well. Quincy gave some words of encouragement to work harder for the family, noting that the family would definitely acknowledge his efforts.
Stanley was a little flattered that Quincy was encouraging him personally.
Before the banquet really ended, Quincy led Jane out of Grand View Hotel.
The two of them hailed a taxi to head straight towards JM University.
In the car, Quincy made a call to Zayne. Since Jane had already known about his real identity, there was no need to hide anything anymore.
“Mr. Nash, thank you for your welcome gift.” Quincy said with a faint smile. Vincent was caught by the authorities during the few days he returned to JM City, so Quincy naturally wouldn’t think this was just sheer coincidence.
“You are too polite, young master.” Zayne replied with courtesy. When Quincy was sent to Spring Island, Zayne had already communicated with the leader of the 3rd team and was able to recover a strong evidence detailing Vincent’s crime in framing someone. The reason he had held on to those evidences was because he wanted Quincy to see with his own eyes Vincent’s capture.
“From what I have learnt from the 3rd team, they have already annihilated the Dragon Organization, and they have minimized the consequences of their actions too. Besides that, I have put into motion some methods and was able to restore Miss Dulce’s qualifications as a student. All you need to do is bring her back to school as usual.”
“You’re really meticulous.” Quincy was very satisfied with Zayne’s performance. Zayne had more attention to detail on such things compared to him, so he could be rest assured about these matters.
After alighting the taxi in the south gate of the school, Jane wanted to bring Quincy along for a food hunt since they both didn’t eat much at the banquet.
The food street was just opposite the south gate. In a moment, Quincy and Jane were already among the crowd at the food street.
There were stinky tofu, grilled cold noodles and also Liangpi being sold…
There were a plethora of things sold here, and it was also the time when students were flooding the streets.
The owner of the stalls here mainly comprised of the farmers who lived nearby who were in their forties or fifties. They had dark skin due to long exposure to the elements of nature. For them, they were grateful they could make a living by just earning their livelihood through selling things here.
“Let’s have some multigrain pancakes.” Quincy and Jane headed towards a stall selling multigrain pancakes which was quite deserted, unlike the other stalls which were frequented by many customers.
They thought maybe his food was not that great, but that didn’t matter for Quincy and Jane since both of them were kind-hearted in nature. They figured it must be a difficult task to own a stall like this, so they wanted to support stalls like this as much as they could.
“Do you guys want some pancakes? You can add on ham, seaweed…” When the owner saw Quincy and Jane walking towards her, she was delighted. This was the first business she had today.
“I want one with ham, and another with spicy strips…” Quincy made his order to the owner, but Jane who was beside him suddenly took a step back abruptly.
“It’s her!” A flash of fear was evident in Jane’s eyes. She couldn’t get a clear look of that owner’s face when they were not in close proximity with her, but now that they were just within inches of each other, she could recognize her. The owner was none other than Lila.
Quincy immediately hugged her while trying to comfort her. Last time, Lila forced her to submerge in water, and this had left a huge shadow in her heart.
“I’m sorry Jane. I was in the wrong last time, and I deserve my punishment. I beg you to forgive me…” Lila hastily emerged from her stall as she knelt down in front of Jane while kowtowing.
When she was bashing Jane that day, she was half-assuming that Quincy was just bluffing her when he said he could separate her from her family once and for all. She didn’t believe such a thing would be possible.
However, the Dragon Organization belonging to her uncle was flattened in just one night by a mysterious force. Before she could return home, her father had called her and announced the news that from that moment on, her connection with the family was ceased forever. He had also taken away all the money owned by her.
Since then, Lila didn’t have any source of income anymore. She definitely couldn’t survive in the school if she didn’t have any money with her. At one point, the thought of becoming a prostitute even occurred to her but in the end, she borrowed money to start her own stall after purchasing a trolley car. She had been selling multigrain pancakes ever since then.
After working at it for more than twenty days, she still couldn’t sell much. She always ended up eating all of her own creations at the end of the day.
Earlier on, when she saw two customers moving towards her, she was beyond jubilant. She could finally at least earn ten yuan today, but she didn’t expect her customers to be Quincy and Jane.
At that moment, Lila was besieged by fear. Quincy was able to annihilate her uncle’s organization with extreme ease using some mysterious methods, so she was afraid of provoking him ever again. Her life might be on the line if she were to provoke him again.
“You still can’t overcome your fears and you are still harboring hatred towards her, am I right? Alright, I know what to do now.” Quincy was wrapping his arms around Jane as he whispered by her ears.
He took out his phone and he was about to call Zayne. After staying on Spring Island for a period of time, Quincy slowly returned to his former self of being a rich descendant. In his eyes, Lila was as insignificant as the grass on the ground.
