Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 48

Amber tilted her head, full of curiosity. "Why is the kitty so calm with you? When I try to hold it, it keeps meowing and runs away."

Brian raised an eyebrow, gently scratching the kitten's head. "Stray cats tend to be a bit wild. It probably sees you as too little to trust yet. It gets a bit cautious with adults and doesn't dare run."

"Oh…" she mumbled, pouting. "But I've been feeding her snacks!"

Brian could imagine the pout on her face. His tone softened. "Earning a cat's trust takes more than food. Come here—I'll show you how to get close to her. Next time, she won't run when you try to hold her."

"Really?" she asked, her tone filled with doubt.

Although she'd promised to stay away from Charlotte's awful ex-husband, the kitten was just too adorable. She couldn't resist and scooted over.

Her soft little body leaned against Brian's arm as she asked curiously, "So, what do I do?"

He held out a hand. "Give me your hand."

She obediently placed her tiny hand in his. Brian guided her fingers to gently pet the kitten. "Before picking her up, try petting her head like this…"

His hand was warm, Snow Puff didn't pull away under his guidance. Instead, the kitten leaned in and licked her fingers affectionately.

Her eyes sparkled with delight. "She kissed me! You're amazing!"

Brian smiled, showing an abundance of patience.

Henry, watching from the side, couldn't help but feel surprised. Normally, Brian only showed a little patience with Kayden, and it was rare. But now, he was so gentle with Amber. Could this be… the making of a doting girl-dad?
