Back then, after Charlotte dropped the divorce papers, she disappeared completely.
Even Brian had gone looking for her, yet the Perry family hadn't lifted a finger. Now, this so-called concern they were showing was just laughable.
The Perry family was stunned. No one could understand why Brian was speaking up for Charlotte.
Estelle looked utterly shocked. "Brian, what's going on with you? Why are you sticking up for someone like her?"
She was clearly upset by his reaction. She would've been better off staying quiet because the moment she spoke, Brian vented his anger on her.
His voice was cold and sharp. "And you. She's not part of the Norman family anymore. Why did you get yourself involved? What does any of this have to do with you? As the lady of the Norman family, do you not care about your status or position? Aren't you worried about how it looks, saying things like this in public?"
"I just..." Estelle was caught off guard by his tone and quickly tried to explain. "I just... couldn't stand seeing it anymore."
Brian didn't hold back at all. "Oh? Since when were you this righteous? If you care so much about doing the right thing, why have I never seen you taking an interest in Norman Group's annual charity work? Have you ever led by example there?"
Estelle's expression turned sour after that lecture, but she couldn't resist sneering, "I'm just worried she might be up to something. Maybe she knew we were dining here tonight and came by on purpose, trying to 'accidentally' run into us."
Charlotte didn't fire back right away. She was still caught off guard that Brian had actually spoken in her defense.
Lydia hadn't expected it either. Brian immediately stood up for Charlotte and even scolded Estelle without holding back. She was seething with jealousy but had no choice except to bury it deep inside.
She saw Kayden run over to Charlotte with his tiny footsteps. He looked absolutely adorable as he asked, "Ma'am, are you here to eat too? Who are you with?"
Charlotte finally came back to her senses. She lowered her eyes and looked at Kayden, her icy expression softening slightly.
