I didn't know what the bigger problem was. The rogues or my mate. I couldn't believe Beatrix acted like I meant nothing to her. Even if she disliked me, I was sure our mate bonds will draw us to one another, whatever it is. Couldn't she feel it?
For the past two weeks, my wolf was going crazy. He wanted so bad to play and run with his mate but I couldn't do anything to get to Beatrix. I didn't see her before class nor even after class. She was smart and clever in avoiding me.
We reached the backyard of the pack house and went to different hiding places to get dress before going into the living room. Everyone was already there except the Alpha, Luna and my brother, the beta. Valerie was also already seated on one of the love seat. She saw me and tapped the empty seat on her left, telling me to come over. I looked at Beatrix and shot her an apologetic look before making my way to Valerie.
"What's going on?" I asked Valerie.
"I don't know. Your brother came out earlier and said that there's a rogue alert," Valerie hissed. It will always get on her nerves whenever a topic of 'rogue' came up.
"Alright, we'll just wait for it," I told her and put one arm around her, to calm her down. I glanced at Beatrix who was looking my way but quickly turned her head away when I caught her looking. I felt bad. I didn't mean to get on lovey dovey with Valerie in front of Beatrix. I just knew I needed to calm Valerie down, plus everyone knew she was my girlfriend.
The sound of boot clicking caught all of the packs' attention and we all turned to the direction of our Alpha and Luna. My brother, the beta was trailing behind them with an unknown person.
"Alright people," the Alpha started, "Before I say anything, I'd like you to meet the Beta of the Morning Shadow Pack, Owen. He was the one who came over to inform us about the rogues as their pack was just recently being attacked. It was only a small group attack, but they managed to take away one person. And that person is a girl, aged 8 is their Alpha's little sister."
"My Alpha will be here soon," Owen took over, "We are here to seek help and at the same time to help this Red Crescent Pack from being attacked. Since we're neighbouring pack, I believe the rogue will decide to 'visit' here soon. We need to start having practices..."
A loud knock on the door caused Owen to stop. Everyone just started among each other, afraid to move. The knock was vigorous.
"Who could it be?" we all heard the Alpha muttered.
"I'll check who it is," Beatrix voiced out, seeing no one dared and she went for it without giving anyone the chance to stop her; not even me. What if it was one of the rogues out there? They would harm...
"I'll stay with him," I volunteered.
"Thank you," Owen replied and left to go back to the living room.
"Alright Alpha, I need you to stay calm and take a deep breath," Rose started her first routine whenever dealing with patients. I watched as she cleaned up the blood on the Alpha's leg and search for source of bleeding. I winced as I watched her use a tweezers into the Alpha's leg and lifted a silver bullet shortly after.
"Oh my god." I covered my mouth. What happened to this Alpha? How was he hurt? Was it the rogue? They used guns?
"Alpha, I have removed the bullet on your leg. Your arm just needed to be bandaged. May I ask you what causes the bleeding?"
"Ar...Arrow," the Alpha choked, confirming my doubts. Most rogues would use arrows to attack, just like hunters. But I never thought they would use guns. These rogues really have upgraded themselves over time.
