Damian had a bit of a tough-kid vibe to him in the early days, a bit of a bully, that is until Bernard set him straight. After that, his temperament did a 180.

It's not exactly right to say he became a mini-Bernard, but there was certainly a change. Even at his young age, Damian carried a certain aloofness, looking down on those around him.

He wasn't much of a talker either. Often, when Eleanor would chat away to him, he'd just listen in silence, never interrupting or arguing back.

Eleanor worried he might become more withdrawn as he got older, so she brought in a psychologist. "Up until he was three, he was such a lively child, always up to some mischief, but now? I can't even coax a smile out of him."

She couldn't shake the suspicion that maybe it was Bernard's scolding two years back that had traumatized Damian, turning him into this.

But looking at Damian's strong-willed nature, it didn't seem like he'd be the type to carry such scars. His issue was more that he only respected and listened to those he saw as strong. The weak? He'd just scoff at them.

After getting the lowdown on Damian's background, the psychologist, Angelica, asked Eleanor, "Does Damian have any particular interests?"

Eleanor thought for a moment, "He's into atlases, puzzle toys, and he's got a thing for tech and medicine too. But once he figures something out, he loses interest. I guess it's just a phase."

Angelica nodded, understanding. "Where's the kid now? I'd like to see him, talk to him a bit, and then we can figure out if we're dealing with a little prodigy or some real psychological issues."

Eleanor extended her arm, gesturing grandly toward the direction of the mansion. "He's usually in the study, sitting on the floor against the wall, buried in a book. He can stay like that all day."

Following Eleanor into the mansion, Angelica couldn't hide her surprise and turned to ask, "Your boy's only five and he can read already?"

Eleanor replied, "Before he started at the kindergarten, we had tutors teaching him to read. He's peculiar that way; sees a word once and he remembers it. He’s also exposed to different languages…”

Eleanor tapered off, knowing full well that Bernard, fluent in several languages, had been even more rigorous in this regard than the Cedric. Cedric had tried multiple times to outdo Bernard but never succeeded.

Before Damian turned five, he was uncooperative, showing little interest in learning languages. But it seemed he eventually got used to Bernard's pressure and now could switch between languages with ease. The only problem was that he didn't much care for speaking, which was rather frustrating.
