Chapter 463
ROMAN
“Who are you?” she asked.
For the first time since she walked into this cell, I hesitated.
Because the moment I told her the truth, everything would change.
I could already see it happening in my head.
The second she heard the name Stonevale, every terrible possibility would immediately connect itself to
The curse.
The spell.
Her sickness.
The dreams.
The voices.
All roads led back to Stonevale now.
And how was I supposed to convince her that I remembered none of it until tonight?
How was I supposed to explain that I had walked into Blood Crescent just as lost as everyone believed
was?
Because honestly-
If our positions were reversed, I wasn’t even sure I would believe myself either.
I looked at her standing there outside the cell.
Waiting.
Trusting me enough to ask.
Trusting me enough to believe whatever came out of my mouth next.
And somehow, that made this harder.
Much harder.
Because I realized very quickly that I cared too much about what she thought of me
Maybe more than I should.
The thought unsettled me immediately

swallowed slowly.
Then finally forced the words out.
“I’m Roman..”
My voice sounded rough suddenly.
I held her gaze anyway.
“Son of Alpha Kael of the Stonevale pack.”
Silence.
Absolute silence.
And then Faye took a small step backward.
The movement itself wasn’t surprising.
But it still felt like something sharp driving directly into my chest.
The shock on her face was immediate.
Visible.
And suddenly, I hated seeing myself reflected in her eyes like that.
Not that she looked afraid.
Because honestly, she didn’t.
It was worse than fear.
It was disbelief.
Confusion.
The kind that made someone immediately start rethinking everything they thought they knew about you.
And God… that hurt.
More than it should have.
Anyone else could look at me like that, and I would survive it.
The pack, the elders… I wouldn’t care.
Alpha Alexander… I could manage.
I could take all of that.
But not her.
Not Faye.

For some reason, the thought of her believing I had been deceiving her this entire time made my heart beat faster… painfully.
Like I physically couldn’t bear it.
I looked away briefly before swallowing again.
“It’s not what you’re thinking,” I said quickly.
Faye’s expression hardened slightly almost immediately.
“Then tell me what it is.”
She was calm now.
The words weren’t harsh.
But they were direct.
And honest.
Exactly like her.
For a second, I just stared at her.
Then finally, I stepped backward slowly before

I leaned back against the cold wall behind me and dragged a hand briefly over my face.
Then exhaled slowly.
Where was I even supposed to begin?
How did someone explain losing their entire identity?
My eyes lifted back toward her eventually.
Faye remained standing near the cell door quietly now.
Waiting.
Listening.
So finally, i told her.

But I gave her the truth.
The real truth.
Or at least the summary of it.

The pressure inside my chest tightened again.
“He needed somebody disposable,” I muttered bitterly. “And i was easy”
Because I had no welf
Because nobody respected me.
Because nobody thought I mattered enough to defend.
I laughed quietly under my breath.
A dry sound.
“The cursed alpha heir.”
Faye’s brows tightened faintly.
And suddenly, I hated that she was hearing this about me.
Hated it.
I leaned my head briefly against the wall behind me before continuing more quietly.
“I didn’t even remember any of this until tonight. Because before I was banished, my memories were damaged… they didn’t want me to remember home.”
That finally seemed to catch her attention fully.
Her expression changed immediately.
I looked back at her.
“My memory started coming back after the binding ritual.”
Faye frowned slightly.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
I nodded once slowly.
“At first, it was flashes,” I explained. “Small things. Faces, voices. Pieces of conversations.”
I paused briefly.
“But after I regained most of my strength…”
My throat tightened faintly.
“It got worse.”
Or maybe better.
I honestly didn’t know anymore.
“Everything started breaking open in my head,” I admitted quietly. “The memories came back one after

tdragged trembling fingers through my hair roughly.
“You think the binding magic did something?” she asked.
“I think whatever was done to my mind…” I said slowly, “the ritual somehow disrupted it.”
Even now, the thought made me uneasy.
Because if Helen hadn’t accidentally bound me to Faye…
Would I still be wandering around not knowing who I was?
Would I still be carrying somebody else’s lies inside my head?
The thought made me feel sick instantly.
I exhaled heavily before finally looking back at her fully again.
“I swear to you,” I said quietly, “I didn’t remember who I was before tonight.”
That was the part I truly needed her to believe most.
“Why were you howling in the woods?” she asked.
That part is the most important, I guess.
I took a deep breath.
“I don’t know. I just lost control and ran into the woods.”
