Chapter 486-1
THIRD POV
Helen remained still for a moment after her assessment, her gaze fixed on Roman’s weakening form as the weight of what she had just concluded settled fully into the room.
The silence that followed was not empty–it was heavy, pressing, final in a way none of them wanted to accept.
Roman lay barely conscious, his breathing shallow and uneven. The silver’s effect had sprea deeper than surface injury; it had drained him of the strength required to function as an anchor in a ritual of life. His body trembled faintly, not with resistance anymore, but with the slow surrender of exhaustion and pain.
Helen exhaled slowly.
“He can’t do it,” she said at last.
Alexander looked at her immediately, his expression tightening.
Helen did not soften the truth.
“He’s too weak,” she continued. “Right now, he’s barely conscious. He cannot channel life energy to anyone, let alone anchor a revival ritual.”
Her voice lowered slightly, as if the weight of the words demanded it.
“Even if he survives this injury,” she added, “it will take time. More time than we have.”
A pause.
Her eyes flicked briefly toward where Faye lay beyond the room, still and unresponsive.
“And by the time he recovers,” Helen said quietly, “Faye’s soul will have drifted too far to be brought back.”
That sentence landed harder than the rest.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Alexander stood completely still, absorbing it.
The reality was simple, but brutal.
There was no time left.
Helen lowered her hands slightly, as though the act of speaking had drained something from

her.
“I’m sorry,” she said, softer now. “I shouldn’t have let Roman out of my sight.”
Alexander’s response came immediately, but not with anger.
It was controlled.
He lowered himself slowly into a nearby chair, as if his body had accepted the truth befor his mind had fully agreed to it.
“No,” he said. “Don’t.”
His gaze stayed forward, fixed somewhere between Roman and the reality they were facir
“It’s the full moon,” Alexander continued. “There was no way you could have physically stopped him. Not in that state.”
A pause.
Then, quieter:
“I should have done better with the arrangement. It’s my fault.”
Helen did not argue.
She simply turned back to Roman and resumed what she had been doing–carefully tending to the wound, stabilizing what little she could. Her hands were steady, but her expression was tight with focus.
Roman stirred faintly as she worked.
A weak sound escaped him, barely audible.
Then his hand suddenly reached out, catching her wrist with surprising instinct despite his condition.
Helen paused instantly.
His grip was weak, but intentional.
His lips parted slightly, his voice barely there.
“Faye…”
A strained breath followed.
“Help… her.”
His eyes remained closed, his body still struggling to hold on, but the words came through

anyway–raw, fragmented, driven more by instinct than strength.
Helen’s expression shifted slightly, something tightening in her chest.
She opened her mouth to respond, but Alexander spoke first.
“Is there nothing you can give him?” he asked.
Helen didn’t look away from Roman.

“It doesn’t work like that,” she said immediately. “This isn’t something I can boost with herbs or a potion. His body isn’t just injured–it’s depleted.”
She hesitated briefly, then continued.
“He would need a constant flow of wolf energy to stabilize him long enough to function.”
Silence followed that explanation.
Then Alexander spoke.
Something in his tone had changed.
As if a thought had clicked into place.
“Use me.”
Helen turned sharply to look at him.
There was a brief pause.
“Excuse me?” she asked, unsure if she had heard correctly.
Alexander didn’t repeat himself immediately, but his gaze was steady now.
“There has to be a way,” he said. “A way to channel my strength into him. If he needs an anchor, then I will be it.”
Helen studied him carefully.
