A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 118

Just like he had said years ago, *"You will never be forgiven."* To this day, he was absolutely convinced that she was the one who had destroyed everyone’s lives.

Meanwhile, tucked safely behind Holden’s broad shoulders, Iris was thrilled. She was so moved by his fierce protection that she was practically laughing through her tears. Having a man willing to bleed for her was the ultimate triumph.

Emboldened, Iris peeked out from behind him, her eyes shining with malicious glee as she taunted Winifred.

"So what if you act like some violent thug?"

"You can throw your little tantrums, scream, and hit people like a total psychopath, but it doesn’t change a thing between me and Holden. We are deeply in love, and we are moving forward together. But you? You’re still just a pathetic, despised criminal!"

It was beyond infuriating. You couldn't knock sense into people who were this willfully blind.

Winifred ignored the noise, turned around, and calmly picked up her medical kit.

"Where do you think you’re going?" Holden immediately demanded.

He stepped toward her, pointing to his bruised, rapidly swelling face. "Fix this. You know as well as I do that we can't let anyone outside this room see this."

Winifred scoffed coldly. "Why should I care? I’m not the one who should be embarrassed."

"You signed a contract with Mrs. Sutton, didn’t you? I suggest you remember the penalty clauses for failing to provide adequate medical care to the guests. I’m sure you’ve read the fine print."

It felt like an invisible hand had clamped down on Winifred’s throat.

She thought about the massive breach-of-contract fee. For the sake of the money, she would swallow her pride for just a little longer. If her instincts were right, Nelly was probably going to terminate her contract by the end of the day anyway and banish her from the Sutton estate for good.

She snapped open her medical kit, pulled out a small jar of premium healing ointment, and tossed it onto the bed near Iris.

"From Dr. Adams."

Seeing Holden push Winifred to her limits gave Iris the confidence to finally drop the act and show her true colors.

"Just so you know, I’m about to become the official brand ambassador for the Adams Wellness Clinic. Free of charge," Iris bragged, her tone dripping with condescension. "You know how much influence I have. One hundred and forty million followers. I can post a picture of my nails, and the nail clippers sell out nationwide. I am going to make Dr. Adams so rich he won't know what to do with the money. Wealth, fame, prestige—it’s all guaranteed."

She was rubbing her power in Winifred's face. She wanted Winifred to know exactly why Holden had chosen her, and exactly why she was untouchable.

Iris immediately raised her hand. "I'm starving."

"What do you want to eat?" Holden instantly sat up from the sofa. The redness and swelling on his face were significantly reduced, though the bruising at the corner of his mouth would take a few days to fade completely.

He didn't say a word about his stomach, ignoring the lingering pain from her kick.

He reached into Winifred’s medical kit, snatched an individually wrapped surgical mask, tore it open, and looped it over his ears to hide the damage.

He walked over to the edge of the bed. Iris looked up at him, her smile wide and delighted.

"Do you want to try everything?" Holden asked softly.

The Suttons did not cut corners on hospitality. The cart held seven or eight different varieties of pastries, four distinct styles of gourmet cakes, and an array of fresh, vibrant fruit.

When the maids had brought it in, Winifred had caught a glimpse of the spread. It made her stomach rumble. She suddenly remembered she hadn't eaten lunch.
