A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 177

The Lockwood family took their seats on the left, the Morgan family on the right, while Nelly and the other esteemed guests were given places of honor at the head of the room.

Iris's parents, Lyndon and Beatrice, noticed Winifred immediately. Their expressions remained flat, entirely dismissing her presence.

Winifred mirrored their apathy. The Morgans were nothing to her. When she had lived with the Lockwoods, they barely acknowledged her existence. It was only when Iris sank her claws into Holden that Lyndon Morgan ruthlessly threw his weight around to force Winifred out. The day she signed the divorce papers and left, they stopped caring she existed. They had treated her like a ghost at Yvonne Sutton's wedding, and she was more than happy to return the favor now.

She met their gaze coolly before looking away.

The ceremony began. It was time for the presentation of the bridal gifts. Roland Lockwood, Holden's formidable father, gestured to his assistant, who brought forward a crimson velvet folder.

"The title deed to Serenity Villa."

"The keys to a bespoke Phantom sports car."

"The commercial deeds to the cinema and surrounding retail blocks on Pearlwell Street."

"And one hundred million in cash."

A collective gasp swept through the room. Every woman present stared at Iris with blazing, undisguised envy.

It was the ultimate display of wealth and status. Holden was marrying her with the highest conceivable honors Seaport City could offer.

"Holden is so incredibly devoted to Iris!" an eccentric young socialite named Coco squealed, unable to contain her excitement.

"Holden..." Iris murmured, gazing up at him with teary, lovestruck eyes.

"I will give you everything I have to make you happy," Holden vowed solemnly.

Coco practically vibrated in her seat, accidentally yanking on Winifred's dress in her excitement. "Oh my god, I'm dying! This is so romantic! I wish I could rewind time and demand a new engagement just to feel this spoiled!"

Winifred stumbled slightly, quickly peeling the woman's manicured fingers off her fabric. "Please let go of my dress," she muttered.

Coco ignored the reprimand, tossing her hair back. "Did your engagement look anything like this? Tell me so I don't feel like the only loser in the room."

"A rare red coral centerpiece."

"Six antique scrolls of calligraphy."

"Six priceless vintage vases."

"Sets of diamonds, emeralds, and jade."

"A mountain of solid gold pieces."

Winifred watched as Madeleine draped a massive, custom-made solid gold necklace around Iris's neck. The piece was obnoxiously heavy, dripping with thick gold chains that fell all the way to Iris's knees.

"It's so heavy! But the weight of my happiness is even heavier!" Iris laughed gleefully, collapsing into Madeleine's arms.
