A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 222

Of course, they weren't going to roll out the red carpet and invite him in.

They considered themselves the new elite of Kingsbridge, and the new elite had standards.

If Leland was here to visit Holden and mend fences, they needed to see his attitude first before deciding whether to associate with him.

If Leland was sincere, they would give him the time of day. But if he was going to be as cold as he was earlier on the second floor, they wouldn't give him a second chance. Once they fully established themselves in Kingsbridge, they could easily mind their own business.

The main Lockwood family might be the wealthiest in the country, but the Morgans weren't lacking either. They had a superstar daughter and a business genius for a son-in-law. Their recent engagement had been broadcasted everywhere, making them a national sensation. Their influence easily eclipsed anyone else in the main Lockwood family.

Leland withdrew his head and walked away without a word.

Beatrice couldn't hold back. "What was that about?"

Lyndon stayed calm. "Don't rush it. Let's wait and see."

But Beatrice was petty, and she took it personally.

Miles caught her glare and tried to smooth things over. "Maybe he went to get a gift."

Beatrice lifted her chin coldly. "He didn't even greet us. He's disrespectful, and we don't care about his gifts."

Miles chuckled awkwardly. "We might need to work with him in the future. If he comes back, let's just talk it out calmly and build a good relationship."

"Impossible!" Beatrice declared. "We have standards."

Lyndon patted her hand. "Don't get angry."

"I'm right, aren't I? People are lining up to network with us. It would be his privilege to associate with us. If he has a bad attitude, we aren't giving him a chance."

Lyndon nodded. "Exactly. We have standards."

The treatment bay was cramped. Beatrice sat at the foot of the bed, while Lyndon and Miles leaned against the wall. The three of them waited to see what Leland would do next.

"Look! It's a nightmare!" Beatrice pointed at the adjacent bed.

Iris gasped. "Leland! Are you insane? You brought her here?"

At her words, Holden, who had been resting with a deathly pale face, opened his eyes.

Leland, having finally settled Winifred, turned around. His expression hardened as he demanded, "What are you all yelling about?"

"Get that woman out of here!" Iris commanded.

Leland didn't back down an inch. "Is this your house? Who are you to order me around?"

"My husband is getting his treatment here. I won't allow her in!"

"My future wife needs this room for her treatment," Leland fired back. "And I won't allow your husband in here!"
