A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 276

Putting it that way, Winifred completely understood.

When you were deeply in love, you could push through any amount of exhaustion. Giving her boyfriend the ultrasound photo would undoubtedly be the perfect birthday gift.

The winter weather in Kingsbridge was miserable—freezing, damp, and prone to sudden sleet.

Winifred's cab splashed through a puddle of muddy slush. A young woman sprinting out of the subway station rolled her eyes, shaking the icy water off her pants.

Winifred sent Quinn one more text:

[Drive safely. The roads are flooding.]

Quinn was probably in the ultrasound room, because she didn't reply.

Winifred didn't think much of it.

The cab pulled up to the entrance of the restaurant. As she paid the fare, a massive shadow fell over her. A sleek Rolls-Royce Phantom glided past her cab and stopped near the door.

Winifred stepped out just as the Phantom's doors opened.

A host approached her, and she gave him her reservation details. As she was speaking, a male voice called out from her right.

"Dr. Shultz."

She turned. Huxley Sheldon's devastatingly handsome, slightly aggressive face came into view.

"Good evening, Mr. Huxley."

She hadn't expected to run into her friends before even stepping inside. Winifred gave him a warm, genuine smile. She was still grateful for how he had helped her at the Aqua Park.

But as her gaze shifted to the person standing next to him, her smile faltered.

Huxley had brought a pregnant woman with him.

She had delicate features—large, soulful eyes, a cute nose, and soft lips. She had an aura of fragile elegance, looking like a tragic heroine from a classic novel.

The woman was clinging to Huxley's arm. Judging by her stomach, she was about five months along. She wore a pristine white, flared designer puffer coat.

"This is Rhea Ingram," Huxley introduced.

Winifred waited a beat, expecting him to say more. When he didn't, she offered a polite smile. "Hello, Ms. Ingram. I'm Winifred."

"Hello, Dr. Shultz."

Huxley cut in. "Let's get inside. It's freezing out here."

Winifred led the way. "It really is. The sleet started out of nowhere this afternoon. It must be exhausting for Ms. Ingram to be out in this weather."
