A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 302

When Quentin threw the anguished question at her, Winifred simply smiled.

"Of course not. Where did you get that idea?"

Looking at her radiant, flawless face, she seemed as pure and untouchable as a pristine lily. If she said there was no one else, then there was no one else.

Quentin relaxed his clenched fists. The heavy doubt suffocating his chest finally dissolved, replaced by a genuine smile.

He walked over to the reception table by the door and picked up a massive bouquet of red roses. Turning back, he dropped to one knee.

"Winifred," he said, holding up the flowers. "This is the first time I've bought you flowers since we moved to the city. I'm sorry for everything."

Winifred reached out, a soft smile on her lips. "Thank you, Quentin."

Nestled in the center of the roses was a red velvet jewelry box. Quentin picked it up, cradling it in his palm as he looked up at her with profound regret.

"After Grandpa Albert's funeral, when I found out you were pregnant with Holden's child..." His voice broke. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to steady himself before continuing. "How do you think I felt? You were the woman I had waited years for. I felt so betrayed, so ashamed and humiliated."

"I couldn't accept reality. I blamed you, but... I couldn't bear to let you go either. So I tore myself apart, bouncing between loving you and resenting you for being unfaithful. I spiraled into a dark place, acting out to numb my own pain."

He stared deeply into her eyes, desperate to gauge her reaction.

"Don't blame yourself," Winifred said softly. "I understand how hard it was for you."

Quentin's brow twitched with hope. "You forgive me, then?"

"Yes."

With trembling hands, he opened the box to reveal a diamond ring he had rushed through the snow to buy the day before. When she obediently offered her hand, he slipped it onto her finger with utmost reverence.

"I didn't have time to get it custom-made, so consider this a promise ring. Once we're officially engaged, I'll take you to the jeweler to design whatever you want."

"Thank you," Winifred said, pulling her hand back.
