Chapter 109
“My neck hurts!” he roared, asound that was almost primal.
“The mark that belongs to me is burning like hell! It’s rejecting! Who the hell did you sleep with?”
I froze for a moment.
An Alpha’s mark on their mate’s neck creates a one–sided bond.
If the mate gets too close to another male, the mark flares up with a painful burning sensation.
I touched the raised scar on the back of my neck.
“You already know what happened, don’t you?” I said into the phone, my voice cold and unshaken.
“So you admit it! You shameless slut! It was Hebert, wasn’t it?” Brian’s voice eripted in fury on the other end of the line.
“You really let that bastard Hebert touch you! When you’re already carrying my child! How dare you!”
There was a time when his words would have cut me, left me reeling with anger or shame. But not now.
Now, his accusations washed over me without leaving so much as a ripple.
I didn’t feel anger. Not even resentment. Just pity. Pathetic pity for how utterly ridiculous he sounded.
“Are you done yelling?”
I cut through his rant, my voice sharp and steady.
All I could hear was his heavy breathing through the receiver. “Brian, let’s remove the mark.”
I said it calmly, without the slightest hesitation.
“What did you just say?” His voice shot up, full of
sbelief.
“I said, remove the mark.

I sat up straight, clutching the towel around me tighter.
“Over my dead body!” he roared again.
“You’re my Luna! Alive or dead, you’re mine. I’ll never remove the mark!”
“I don’t love you anymore, Brian.”
The moment those words left my mouth, it felt like a massive weight inside me shattered into pieces.
“From the moment you brought her into the manor, from the moment you let her trample on my dignity, my feelings for you…. died completely.”
“Shut your mouth! You have no right to bring that up!”
He cut me off furiously.
“You’re coming back to the Blackwood Manor right now! I’m going to personally check that mark! I’ll strip every trace of Hebert’s scent from you, piece by piece!”
That’s not happening.”
I let out a cold laugh.
“I’m never setting foot in the Blackwood territory again. And I’m never going back to you.” “You don’t come back, and I’ll bring

people over to level the Alpha Manor!” His threat was as hollow as it sounded.
“And what are you going to use for that? That nearly bankrupt ledger of yours?”
I tore through his bluff without a second thought.
“You think you can escape me?” He was nearly spitting those words through clenched teeth.
“As long as I don’t agree, you’re always part of the Blackwood Pack! Don’t even dream of being free to mess around with other males!”
“You’re a complete idiot, Brian,” I said, shifting my position and hugging my knees to my chest.
“According to the Pack Council Hall’s supreme law, once partners have been living apart for more than six months, the marriage automatically enters the dissolution process.”
The line went dead silent.
I pressed on, driving in the facts: “When the time’s up, the court will step in. Even if you don’t want to remove the mark, they’ll force the separation surgery anyway.”
“You’d dare take me to the council court?” His breathing turned sharp and erratic.
“Why wouldn’t I?” I shot back instantly.
