Chapter 121

“Silvia, I just have to congratulate you sincerely.” I raised an eyebrow slightly, the corners of my mouth curling into a mocking smile. “Your complexion right now is downright impressive-so vibrant, even breathtaking. And that scream of yours earlier? Loud enough to shatter the ceiling, no doubt. That’s definitely not the behavior of a frail, terminally ill wolf. Honestly, your miraculous illness seems pretty smart-flaring up precisely when Brian isn’t around and miraculously vanishing the minute he is.”

Silvia’s face instantly darkened. She bit her lower lip hard, her usual pitiful act of an innocent, fragile flower nearly crumbling on the spot.

I didn’t give her any chance to breathe, my gaze brazenly sweeping over her ridiculous pink puffball dress covered in countless cheap rhinestones, and that gaudy sapphire necklace around her neck. “And I finally understand why Blackwood Pack’s been facing such a serious financial crisis lately,” I sneered, raising my voice just enough to make sure those nosy noble werewolves nearby could catch every word. “Blackwood’s trade routes have stalled, the reserve funds are running low-turns out all the losses went to you. As Luna of Blackwood Pack, your ‘work’ really stands out.”

A ripple of low, mocking laughter immediately spread around me. A couple of elegantly dressed noble she-wolves even partially hid their faces behind feather fans, making no effort to conceal the disdain in their eyes.

Silvia’s chest heaved sharply, her glare practically shooting venom. “You vile little witch!” she shrieked, trying to drown out her obvious insecurity with sheer volume. “I dress like this to uphold Brian’s absolute dignity as Alpha of Blackwood Pack! After all, you and I aren’t the same. For someone like you-just a lowly omega worker-wearing those cheap, simple clothes is enough. You don’t need to worry about embarrassing yourself in front of the whole alliance!”

Cheap? Simple? I glanced down at my custom-designed black velvet gown, handmade by one of the top designers, then back at her ridiculous outfit that screamed circus clown. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing inside.

“Silvia, your so-called artistic talent and taste? Yeah, none of it shows in that pathetic pink rhinestone dress,” I said coldly, taking a step forward, my gaze locked on hers with an intensity that made her flinch. “If I were you, I’d turn around, run to the bathroom, and take a good look in the mirror. Do you really think you’re protecting Brian’s dignity? Or are you just giving the entire Southern Alliance a front-row seat to Blackwood Pack’s fashion disaster?”

The crowd erupted into laughter. A Northern Alpha even let out a dramatic whistle, adding fuel to the fire.

Silvia’s fragile composure shattered in an instant. She let out a sharp, almost animalistic howl of rage, raising her hand-adorned with some ridiculously expensive lace glove-and aimed a vicious slap at my face.

I didn’t even flinch. My feet stayed planted, my expression unchanging. There was no way I was going to let this desperate parasite touch me, let alone hurt me.

Just as I was about to push her hand away, a force crashed between us.

Not Hebert

It was Brian.

He caught her wrist in a tight grip, his strength undeniable as Silvia cried out in pain.

“Brian! You’re hurting me!” Her eyes instantly filled with tears, the kind she knew would roll down her cheeks all too conveniently. Her voice shifted into that delicate, pleading tone she always used to play the victim. “Didn’t you hear the way she just insulted me? Insulted our whole pack?”

Brian didn’t even glance at her. His grip loosened for just a second, only to shove her hand away with

clear disdain.

His deep blue eyes were fixed on my face, swarming with a mess of emotions.

He suddenly strode forward, his large hand grabbing my wrist tightly, his grip overbearingly firm and inescapable.

Brian’s POV

To be honest, the last person I wanted to bring to this crucial banquet was Silvia. That pink puff of a dress she threw on, covered in cheap rhinestones, looked like something a circus performer would wear to get a quick laugh from the audience. Absolute disaster. If we hadn’t been in such a rush, I would’ve made her change immediately. Frankly, I couldn’t even stomach the thought of walking the red carpet with her dressed like that. So, the moment we pulled up at the manor’s grand hotel, I made up some crappy excuse and sent her off to the entrance alone.

I stayed in the car for one more cigar, trying to calm my nerves.
