Abandoned While Pregnant, Claimed by the Alpha novel Chapter 135

Chapter 135

Ashley’s POV

I never thought Brian would go out of his way to corner me in the hallway, only to spout such ridiculous nonsense.

The words coming out of his mouth made me feel sick to my stomach. He had the audacity to claim that Hebert was just using me, while he was the one who truly cared. What a jokeno, scratch that what a complete farce.

What exactly do you mean by real love,Brian?I asked, my voice cold and flat as I locked eyes with his bloodshot ones. A sarcastic smirk tugged at my lips. Does it mean betrayal? Suspicion with no boundaries? Or maybe that look you always gave me, like I wasn’t worth the dirt on your shoes?

For the love of the Moon Goddess!I shouted, fury surging through me as my chest rose and fell with the force of my emotions. Can you just wake up already? Do you have even the faintest clue how pathetic you sound right now? You’re still trying to feed me these terrible lies as if it’ll change anything!

Brian froze for a moment, his face twisting into something strained and unpleasant.

I know I messed up, Ashley,he said after a long pause, his voice hurried and defensive. But it wasn’t what it looked like! It was just a misunderstanding! I’ve always cared about you, I swear! He took a sharp step forward, his voice filled with urgency. From the moment I saved you from that freezing snowfield to when we became mates, I’ve never once let you face situations as humiliating or dangerous as today! I never forced you to deal with those arrogant nobles or put you in harm’s way! I never made any unreasonable demands on you. I gave you the finest food and the most luxurious home in the entire Blackwood Pack! Isn’t that enough to show you how much I care?!

Enough!I cut him off, my voice cold and sharp, slicing through his selfrighteous speech like a knife.

My fists clenched tightly, nails digging into my palms as I locked him in an icy stare. I don’t care whether or not Hebert truly gives a damn about me! But let me be clear about one thing: the socalled love you’re bragging about? That’s not what I want!

Everything you just said that’s not love! You just want to keep me as some tame little pet, locked up in the tiny cage you’ve built for me!My words spilled out like a dam breaking, full of longsuppressed anger. Yes, I’m an Omega, and one without a wolf spirit at that. But first and foremost, I’m my own person! I crave equality, the chance to grow, not to be some pitiful Alpha’s accessory!

And do you know what’s truly laughable?A bitter smirk twisted my lips. I worked myself to the bone for the Blackwood Pack, handled countless intricate tasks, created immense value for you, and yet your arrogant, blind eyes couldn’t see even a shred of that!

Brian’s face turned pale in an instant. He reached out, trying to grab my wrist, but I darted away before he could touch me.

I see it now, Ashley!he blurted out, his tone carrying an unusual hint of desperation. I truly hope you’ll come back to the Blackwood Pack! Both I and the entire territory need you, desperately!

I froze for a moment.

In all those long years of marriage, this was the first time he’d ever spoken to me with such sincerity, with something that felt almost like equality. Between us, there had always been this twisted imbalanceBrian, forever perched on his pedestal, looking down at me with that air of superiority, barking out his orders.

But this? This felt totally different..

Taking a deep breath, I wrestled with the storm of emotions threatening to break loose inside me, determined to keep them under control.

Brian, the Blackwood Pack took me in when I was at my lowest, gave me shelter when I had nothing, said, keeping my voice steady. I’ve never forgotten that kindness I carry it with me, always. If the Blackwood Pack is ever in real danger and truly needs my help, I’d never hesitate to step in.

The second those words left my mouth, a shiver shot down my spine, sharp and chilling.

I quickly shrugged off that suffocating feeling, locking eyes with Brian, my gaze unwavering as I pushed back. But between you and me, there’s nothing left, nothing more. We can’t go back. It’s too late, Brian./My soul, my heartthey’ve already changed, completely.

Brian lost it in an instant.

Changed? What’s changed?he demanded, his voice a strained screech, red veins spidering through his eyes. No! No, Ashley! You have to give me another chance! I swear I’ve learned my lesson! Why won’t you just offer me even the tiniest chance?!

I closed my eyes for a moment, inhaling deeply, feeling the weight of the finality about to be spoken.

Brian,I said, my tone cold and firm. It’s time we put an end to this. Stop this pathetic backandforth. I don’t love you anymore. And honestly? You’ve moved onyou’re with another wolf girl, parading around like we didn’t exist. That mess of a marriage we had? It should’ve stayed buried in the filth where it belongs.

I didn’t have another word to say. Not a syllable more. Turning firmly on my heel, my high heels clicking sharply against the floor, I headed for the exit, eager to leave this stifling space.
