Chapter 14
Brian’s Pov
I walked into the hospital, still simmering with frustration toward Ashley. Every time he defied me, I wanted to pin her down until she gave in until she remembered her place. I’d been way too lenient with her. Moving out was supposed to make her reflect, to realize her responsibilities as the Luna of the pack. But no she’s acting like she’s completely cut ties with num
Right now, though, I needed to focus on Silvia. As long as there was still a flicker of life in her, I had to be there for her. She had

As I entered the hospital corridors, my phone buzzed. It was Ashley calling.
I knew it. I knew she was calling to beg for my mercy.
“Brian, help me…” Her voice trembled through the line. “I… I’m in trouble, on the outskirts of the city…”
I froze for a moment, then shut her down immediately. No way. She had been so damn defiant earlier, and now she wanted to act all weak and desperate? No. Not this time.
She needed to understand that I wasn’t someone she could just manipulate whenever she wanted. So, I refused her.
I opened the door to Silvia’s room.
She lay on the white hospital bed, dressed in a loose hospital gown, her face pale as a sheet. Her ankle was bandaged, and she looked so fragile, like she could break at any moment. The instant she saw me, tears welled up in her beautiful eyes, like a
startled fawn.
“Brian…” Her voice trembled as she reached out to me. “I was so scared… I thought I’d never see you again…”
I walked quickly to her side, taking her hand in mine. Gently, I asked, “What did the doctor say?”
“Just some scrapes and a slight sprain, Alpha Brian,” the doctor/standing nearby replied respectfully. “Silvia was very lucky. Falling down the stairs didn’t cause any serious injuries. She just needs a few days of rest, and she’ll be fine.”
A wave of relief washed over me, the tension in my body easing up. Thank God she was alright. I didn’t want to imagine what I’d do if something worse had happened to her; the guilt would’ve been unbearable.
“Thank goodness,” I said, lightly brushing her hand with my fingers. “As long as you’re okay.”
A flicker of something complicated crossed Silvia’s eyes as she clutched my hand tightly. Her voice came out weak but earnest. Brian, I feel so useless… I can’t go a second without you around. The moment you’re gone, my mind spirals, and I feel terrified.”

She gazed into my eyes, her voice carrying a desperate plea. “Promise me… no matter what I do, you won’t blame me, okay? I’m just so scared… scared of losing you again.”
Looking into her fearful, dependent eyes, my heart softened. “I promise you, Silvia. I won’t blame you for anything.”
Just then, my phone rang again. It was Ashley. I frowned, about to answer, but Silvia’s frail voice interrupted me.
“Brian…” she looked at me cautiously, her eyes filled with unease and reliance. “I… I was wondering if I could have some grapes? Would that be okay?”
“Of course,” I replied, my tone low and steady. “You just rest here, don’t go anywhere. I’ll go get them for you.”
As I was about to leave the room, Silvia called out again. “Brian, I forgot my phone. Can you hand me your phone? I want to see
where it is.”
Handing her the phone, it didn’t take long to find it lying under the bed. “Go on, I’ll be here when you’re back,” Silvia said sweetly.

When I resumed with the grapes and was about to reenter the hospitar, Kael called.
Alpha, there’s trouble.”
I free in my tracks “Go on.”
He sent me a post. I clicked on the news. “Trending topic: The Luna of the Alpha has moved out of the Alpha residence, and Silvia moved in!
My blood froze in an instant.
I opened the link, and the first thing I saw was a photo taken in the Alpha Manor’s living room, a place I knew so well. Sunlight spilled through the floor–to–ceiling curtains I personally picked, Silvia sitting in a wheelchair, right next to that damned painting. Her face wore a weak yet triumphant smile.
The caption read:
“Thank you ‘Moonlight Salon‘ for the invitation–it’s the best gift I’ve received this year. And a special thanks to my Alpha for supporting my career.”
My Alpha.

Damn it! I told her clearly to keep a low profile! How dare she take pictures in my manor and post them online?
I stopped in my tracks, standing frozen in the middle of the hospital lobby, completely forgetting about the grapes I’d just bought. The comments section was already blowing up:
“Oh my god, Silvia is so strong! Even in her final moments, she’s still pouring her soul into art!”
“She’s the true leading lady! Talented and kind! She’s even donating all the auction money from her paintings to the orphanage!
“Compared to someone who only plays with flowers and hogs resources like a greedy housewife, Silvia’s on a whole other level.”
“The love between Alpha Brian and Silvia is just so moving–more moving than a Shakespearean play!”
Each word felt like a blade stabbing into my nerves. These idiots–how dare they compare Ashley to someone else? Who the hell gave them the right to judge her?
What set my blood boiling even more were a few comments from other packs:
“Looks like the Blackwood Pack’s Luna is losing her ground.”
“Has Ashley Caldwell been abandoned? Without her Alpha, she’s got no protection now.”
“A fallen Luna… interesting.”
r
My fists clenched so hard it felt like my knuckles might crack. What were these bastards trying to imply? That Ashley was no longer under my protection? Did they think they could take advantage of her now?
My wolf growled deep in my chest, a murderous rage burning through me. No matter what issues Ashley and I had, she was still my wife—still the Luna of the Blackwood Pack. Anyone who dared touch her would pay for it with their lives.
I immediately dialed Silvia, my voice colder than Arctic winds. “Take that post down. Now. Right this second.”
“Brian? What’s wrong? I just wanted to spread my artwork—it’s just for exposure!”
