Abandoned While Pregnant, Claimed by the Alpha novel Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Grandmother let out a sharp snort, cutting off the painfully awkward conversation. She turned to the Alphas, her tone carrying an undeniable authority: “Hebert’s disrespect is clear for all to see. If some of these upstart groups don’t understand the value of tradition and alliances, perhaps we should remind them what it feels like to be utterly isolated by all the ancient packs. Gentlemen, if you refuse to align with the Bloodmoon Pack, I suspect they’ll quickly learn just how important courtesy is.”

The Alphas exchanged glances, their expressions growing serious. “We’ll give your proposal serious

consideration, ma’am,” one of them finally responded.

I raised my glass. Without alliances, an Alpha is just fresh meat for rogues. I’ll wait for him to come

begging, pleading for my help to fend off the rogues-no matter how strong they think their pack is.

Just as we lowered our glasses, a sudden heavy thud echoed from one corner of the banquet hall.

“Oh my god! What’s wrong?”

A sharp scream shattered the fragile veneer of calm. I turned and saw an elite warrior clutching his

stomach, his face pale and drenched in sweat, collapsing to the ground. Then it happened again-

another, and another…

“Ugh, my stomach… Damn it, there’s something wrong with the food!”

Panic spread like wildfire. The guests, who had been chatting gracefully just moments ago, began

dropping their utensils, groaning in pain one after another.

I whipped around to look at Silvia, her face turning as pale as a sheet in an instant.

“Silvia! What the hell did you put in the food?!” I roared, my anger finally snapping like a frayed thread.

This was her so-called “absolutely foolproof plan”? This was what she meant by “personally overseeing

everything”?

In that moment, the Blackwood Pack’s pride crashed and burned, dragged straight through the mud.

Before I could fully process the mess in front of me, another servant came stumbling over, practically

choking back tears. “Alpha! More-more guests are getting sick! Everyone’s vomiting and…it’s chaos out

there!”

The chaos spread even faster than the panic. Screams, retching, curses-all of it collided in the once-

gaudy ballroom, transforming it into a scene straight out of a nightmare.

And Silvia? She had seemingly vanished into thin air.

In the end, what was supposed to be a night showcasing our pack’s honor ended with all the guests being hauled off to the hospital in ambulances. The hospital’s diagnosis report landed like a judgment, slapping me hard in the face-mass food poisoning.

After a quick investigation, the truth came to light. Silvia had bought a batch of cheap, near-expired ingredients just to save money. When the chef realized the meat had gone bad and suggested throwing it all away, she insisted they use it anyway because she didn’t want it “to go to waste.”

“Unbelievable!” Grandmother slammed the report onto the floor, her whole body trembling with rage. Her eyes, blazing with fury, locked onto me as she spoke, emphasizing every word: “Brian, handle this immediately! This is your disgrace, and it’s a stain on our family!”

With that, she stormed out, leading everyone else with fury radiating from her every step.

Ever since I became Alpha, my life had been filled with pride and victories. I had never failed, not once, and I had never, until today, been stripped of dignity in such a public, humiliating way. I felt like a joke, nailed to a post of disgrace for all to see.

And at the center of this disaster was the very woman who had sworn to me with absolute confidence that “nothing will go wrong.”
