The moment her eyes landed on me, she abruptly stopped her report, her sweet smile twisting with a sharp edge of sarcasm.” Oh, good morning, Ms. Ashley,” she said, loud enough for everyone in the hall to hear, “I truly envy your sleeping habits. We’ve been hard at work here for hours, and you’re just now up and about.”

God, that familiar, snide tone-it hit me like Silvia’s old tricks, where the gentlest voice carried the nastiest thorn. My clieeks flushed with heat as I struggled to find the right comeback. Before I could say a word, Hebert’s cold voice cut through the air.

“Cecilia,” he said, not even glancing her way, his gaze fixed on me, “mind your words.”

Cecilia’s smile froze, her lips pressed shut though her eyes burned with jealousy and frustration, like a snake ready to strike.

She quickly adjusted her expression, shifting her focus back to Hebert, her tone dripping with flattery and pride. “Alpha, regarding Bloodmoon Pack’s Independence Day celebration, I’ve come up with an initial plan. As you know, my father’s Darkriver Pack has strong connections with several noble alliances. I’ve already reached out to secure all the influential family representatives. It’ll undoubtedly be an event to be remembered.”

She handed him a beautifully bound proposal, her posture reeking of entitlement—as if she already owned the hall.

But Hebert didn’t even glance at the document. His attention bypassed her entirely, landing squarely on me. “Ashley,” he said, ” what’s your idea?”

The entire hall felt like it froze. Cecilia’s perfectly made-up face turned ghostly pale in an instant.

I stepped forward and handed over my tablet. “My proposal might be a bit unconventional, Alpha,” I said calmly. “I suggest that for this year’s Independence Day, we hold a special celebration just for the Omegas in the pack.”

“What?!” Cecilia shrieked, completely losing her composure. “That’s ridiculous! Independence Day is the most glorious, sacred day for the Bloodmoon Pack! It stands for strength and honor! How could you turn it into some Omega party?!” She turned to glare at me, her eyes full of disdain. “Oh, right, I almost forgot-you’re an Omega yourself, Rebecca. Don’t tell me you’re using this as an excuse to selfishly advocate for your kind!”

“Selfish?” I scoffed, meeting her gaze head-on. “Cecilia, take a look around. The ones bringing us tea right now? Omegas. The ones cleaning this massive estate? Omegas. And the ones cooking all our meals? Also Omegas. I’d bet my life that no noble gentleman or lady here would be willing to take on any of those backbreaking, thankless jobs themselves.”

My voice rang out loud and clear through the hall, firm and steady. “The glory of a pack has never belonged solely to the elite few at the top. It’s built on the hard work and dedication of countless ordinary members. As the noble class, you can’t just sit back and enjoy the services Omegas provide while dismissing their contributions as if they don’t matter. If the pack wants to grow, to truly thrive, then we need to unite every strength we can, make every member feel valued and respected, not treat them like silent, disposable parts.”

“You… you’re trying to stir up class conflict!” Cecilia was trembling with anger, yet she couldn’t find any strong argument to counter me.

Right then, Hebert spoke up.

“I support Ashley’s proposal.”

His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried an undeniable authority. He handed my tablet back to me, and in his deep eyes, there was a glimmer of something new-approval. “This is a smart decision.”

Cecília stared at him in disbelief. “Alpha, how could you… how could you make such an emotional decision? You need to be more impartial!”

“I am the most impartial.” Hebert’s voice turned cold, and his powerful Alpha aura instantly filled the hall, pressing down on everyone like a heavy weight. “Ashley has shown a broader perspective and a greater sense of empathy. She identified something we’ve all overlooked. Hosting a celebration for Omegas will not only unite our pack but also establish the Bloodmoon Pack as a model of kindness and progress. This is a decision that truly benefits the pack in the long run.”
