Abandoned While Pregnant, Claimed by the Alpha novel Chapter 63

Chapter 63

Hebert’s POV

The door slammed shut right in my face, and it was crystal clear-Ashley was mad.

But why?

Was it because she caught me soaking my clothes on purpose in the bathroom?

Or maybe it was when I leaned into her space, making her feel cornered, pressured?

Her scent-fresh, delicate, like lilies after rain-still lingered faintly in the air, enticing me. My body hadn’t calmed down. That unfinished fantasy, all about her, was still coursing through me, leaving me in a state of unbearable tension. Desire screamed within me, relentless and infuriating, pressing against my slacks and making this whole thing impossibly awkward. If I went after her looking like this… would she think I was some sort of creep?

A frustrated growl ripped from my throat, and my fist slammed hard against the sturdy surface of the mahogany desk. Dammit.

I’m supposed to be the Alpha of Bloodmoon Pack-a leader who’s always in control, never faltering. But in front of her? I feel like a fool, shackled and helpless.

Her scent-the very thought of her-set everything inside me ablaze again. I couldn’t think of anything but her. Ashley, her soaked shirt clinging to every curve, those wide, startled eyes locked on mine, and her slightly parted lips… lips that were begging to be kissed.

I couldn’t take it anymore.

In that moment, my world narrowed down to just her. I let go of every bit of desire she had stirred in me. I felt like I was losing my mind.

Over the next few days, Ashley kept avoiding me.

If we crossed paths in the hallway, she’d duck her head and take a longer route to steer clear of me. During meetings, she always sat as far away from me as possible, her eyes fixed anywhere but mine. It was like she was building this invisible, unbreakable wall between us.

I had to do something.

But I was afraid that any sudden move from me would drive her even further away.

I thought back to what happened in the bathroom. I could still hear her quickened breath, see the way her eyes couldn’t hold mine yet couldn’t look away either.

Even when I got close, she didn’t pull back. Her heartbeat was racing, sure, but she didn’t step away.

So… she is into me.

I still don’t get why she’s been avoiding me since then, but realizing she’s attracted to me actually put me

in a good mood.

It meant Marcus’ ridiculous advice might not have been entirely useless. That whole thing about showing raw, alpha energy-it worked on her at least a little.

I need more advice.

I grabbed my phone and called Marcus, but all I got was a cold, automated “not reachable” message.

Oh, right. A few days ago, I personally sent him off to the northern border.

Ashley’s POV

I’ve been feeling so conflicted these past few days.

When I’m busy with work, I don’t really have much time to dwell on anything else.

But every time I see Hebert, I can’t stop myself from thinking about what happened that day. He’s been avoiding me too, not even trying to talk to me anymore.

Things between us have gotten unbearably awkward.
