Chapter 84
Cecilia’s POV
I stared at the door, and a faint, uncontrollable smirk tugged at my lips.
What a pathetic joke. That woman–some secondhand goods with Brian’s pup—actually dared to dream about Hebert. She’s just an OMEGA. There’s no way she can bear the weight of the Bloodmoon Pack, let alone handle the pressure of standing beside
Hebert.
I did it on purpose, every bit of it. I wanted that foolish woman to see clearly who truly holds power in this office. I know the Bloodmoon pack inside out, better than anyone, better than her. I know how to support a top Alpha like Hebert. I’m the one who truly deserves to be by his side.
I glanced at Hebert and reached out to straighten the documents on his desk, using the moment to close the space between us.
“Cecilia, don’t touch my stuff,” Hebert’s voice was calm but firm. “You know I only act close to you to put on a show for Ashley.”
“She feels a little pressured by how we’ve been around each other,” Hebert added.
My body instantly froze, jealousy surging through me like poison coursing through my veins. He actually said something so cruel to me—for an Omega carrying another man’s pup. All because of that bitch–Ashley.
Her arrival stripped me of my role as acting Luna. I gave up my status as an Alpha princess to come to the Bloodmoon Pack and serve as Hebert’s secretary. Unlike other Alphas who inherited their titles, he earned his position entirely through his own strength.
Just thinking about his powerful, sinewy muscles made an uncontrollable heat rise between my legs. I was completely captivated by his raw, untamed nature. My father had opposed my decision, saying it would tarnish the pack’s reputation, but I
came anyway.
Three years. I stayed by Hebert’s side for three long years, and there wasn’t a single she–wolf near him. Everyone in the pack already saw me as the Luna. But then, just two weeks ago, he brought back a pregnant woman. Everything I had was taken away
in an instant.
I won’t go down without a fight.
Swallowing the bitter lump of emotions in my chest, I forced myself to smile–perfect, like nothing could touch me. I had to maintain my graceful image.
“Of course, Alpha,” I replied softly, my voice dripping with insincere admiration. “I’m fully aware of my place in the pack. I’m very much looking forward to seeing Ashley become the Luna of the Bloodmooh Pack. Everyone knows how remarkable she is.”
“He definitely is,” Hebert’s face softened, his tone full of admiration. “I’ve never met a she–wolf as remarkable as Ashley. She’s kind, intelligent, and even after facing betrayal, she shows such resilience. No one but Ashley deserves the title of Luna.” 1
Kind? Intelligent? Resilient? I almost burst out laughing. If she’s so perfect, why did Brian abandon her? If she’s so tough, then why did she run crying to Hebert? She’s just a helpless, pitiful stray who had nowhere else to go.
My fists clenched tight, nails digging into my palms so hard it hurt–at least the pain kept me composed. My teeth practically pit through my tongue, but I still forced myself to reply, “I completely agree with your decision. Honestly, I’ve always admired Ashley. The way she cares for those orphans is truly touching. That kindness is exactly what our pack needs right now. She’s done a great job organizing this event, and I’ll do everything I can to support her and make sure it all goes smoothly.”
